Hi I'm Shawn Spencer

I grew up in Orem, Utah. I love serving others and the Lord. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My hobbies and interest involve anything I can do with my hands like woodworking, metal work, welding, helping others and anything to do with the outdoors including four wheeling, boating, and especially sports, namely football. I started playing football in the 4th grade and have had a passion for it ever since. I attended one semester at UVU and am now just waiting to serve a full-time mission. When I return, I hope to be able to play football at the collegiate level with aspirations to play in the NFL someday. My favorite NFL football team is the Denver Broncos and favorite college team is BYU. If the NFL doesn't pan out for me, I plan on majoring in Engineering, although still trying to determine what type of Engineer I want to be. I'm leaning towards civil engineering. Last of all about me, I love spending time with my family!

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member of the church all of my life but the biggest reason I have stayed a member is because I love all the things this church teaches. One of those things includes service. I love doing service. That was Christ's whole life was doing service and that's what this church is about as well, serving others and bringing others unto Christ through service. The other part that is really nice about this Church too is the fact that we have the atonement. Nobody is perfect. We are obviously going to make mistakes. It's nice to have Christ's ultimate active of service in that he atoned for all of our sins. Even when we have tried our best but we fall short, Christ can fill in the gap that we need in order to make it to Heavenly Father again and be in eternity with our families again.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving others. It's something I learned how to do at a very young age by my parents and grandparents, and of course by the ultimate example of service which is our Savior. I'm a ward missionary right now and love going out with the missionaries assigned to this area helping them teach others about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Because of a great home teaching companion, I also live my faith by visiting families in our ward faithfully each month. Sometimes I prepare and give a lesson, about a variety of different church subjects, to the families we teach. Lastly, I have always been involved in scouting and try to help other young men in our ward by involving them in activities.
