Hi I'm Brian Steven King

I grew up in the foothills of North Carolina. I am a convert and I have been Called to serve in the England Manchester Mission.

About Me

I grew up in a small town called Hildebran in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains. I have been blessed with a wonderful and supportive family my entire life. Especially a mother and Father who have always believed in raising me in church. For 18 years of my life I was raised in a Baptist church. I loved the people and friendships I gained from my small town church. I love the outdoors and playing tennis. I had a friend who was a member and I started to learn a little about the church from him. After many years of studying and lots of prayer from myself and his family I joined the church at age 18. I am the only member of my family right now but lots can and will change! I love The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and I am so excited to go and serve the people of Manchester England!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the example my friend set for me. I grew up in a Baptist home and changing my denomination was nothing I ever planned to do. When I was in the 9th grade I had a friend who was Mormon and I asked him about his church. It really fascinated me and I wanted to know more. I attended church with him and I received a copy of the Book of Mormon from his family. As I read and prayed about the Book of Mormon I came to know that it was true but I had so many questions about the church. After lots of time and many months and years where I didn't care about the church I picked up the book again as a freshman in college and it really made an impact on my life. I decided this time to act upon it and take the discussions. My friend was so happy and he even got to baptize me before he left on his mission. I love my Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. I am so thankful for their teachings and for the truthfulness of the Gospel. I know that Joseph Smith received divine revelation and restored the Gospel of Jesus Christ upon the Earth to its fullness. I believe with all my heart and have faith that if we follow him, if we love him, and if we keep his commandments we can return to live with our Savior Jesus Christ after this life. I know my life has a purpose and there is a plan for me here. I am so thankful for the Missionaries who taught me and for the Book of Mormon. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church upon the earth and I am grateful to be a member.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by keeping the gospel a priority in my life and always doing my best to let my light shine for all to see. Our Heavenly Father has given each of us opportunities to grow and progress in our faith. Living my faith isn't something I can just do on Sundays! No matter what I do or where I go my faith for the gospel follows and I have to be prepared to stand up and sometimes even stand alone if it means not compromising my standards. My faith is one of love and happiness and I am proud to live my faith as a Mormon.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Brian Steven King
No, you are not required to serve a mission for the church! I am a convert and for me deciding to serve a mission was the hardest thing I have ever had to decide on. Leaving my home and family for 2 years seems like such a huge commitment; however, we can be with our families for eternity and knowing that there are people who need me where I am called has really helped me. Young men are highly encouraged to serve a mission and girls can also serve missions but it does not hurt you or put you in bad standing with the church if you choose not to serve. Show more Show less
