Hi I'm Sheila

I loved growing up by the sea. I am a mum, grandma, and great grandma. I joined my church at age 22 years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lots of happy memories of my childhood, being raised with my lovely sister by my dad and grandmother. I lived on the island of Malta for 3 years after I was first married. It was here that my husband and I met friends who taught us about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We fully embraced the gospel and were baptised in the sea when a member of the church, a Group Leader in the US Navy, came to port in Valetta. I am truly grateful to the church members who were such excellent missionaries to my husband and I - I am greatly indebted to them. My favourite holidays have been in Kenya and Israel, where I had many wonderful and unforgettable experiences. I love spending time with my children and grandchildren and they are a great joy in my life. My new great grandson is adorable. I also love my dog and one of my enjoyable pastimes is taking her for walks - in all weathers. I have a small garden and like to plant and care for it so as to enjoy the beautiful colours in the spring and summer. It is a special time for me to go to church to worship, serve, and socialise with my church family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I love my Saviour Jesus Christ. I know through the witness of the Holy Ghost that His true church has been restored to the earth and that the Book of Mormon has been brought forth through Joseph Smith, a prophet of God, in theses latter days. I learned these truths for myself by following the teachings in the Book of Mormon: Ask God in the name of Christ, with a sincere heart, with real intent, and having faith in Christ, to know the truth. Any honest seeker of truth can come to know for themselves by following these steps. I joined the church as a young woman and have experienced the joy of the gospel throughout my life. It has given me hope that one day I can return to live with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I believe that families can be together forever by being sealed to each other in holy temples and then living worthily of this blessing throughout this life. To be an eternal family - to be with our loved ones forever - is a great gift from God.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to live the way the Saviour taught us. He set the example by being loving, kind, selfless, humble, obedient, giving service and by being willing to sacrifice all to do His Father's work. Jesus Christ is the only sinless person to live on this earth and I know that when we make mistakes and are truly sorry, he is waiting with outstretched arms to forgive. I attend church and partake of the Sacrament each week to remember what my Saviour has sacrificed for me. I look for small ways I can serve others. When I speak to people I try to lift them up, not put them down. I love the scriptures and enjoy reading about great servants of the Lord who overcame the trials of life and remained faithful to the end. This strengthens me through difficult times. I have had many callings at church teaching the youth and children, which I have loved, and I now I delight to serve in the nursery with beautiful little children. The gospel of Jesus Christ is in my heart.
