Hi I'm Marilyn

I am a Texas girl. I love to sew, cook and spend time with my family. I am a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up I always wanted to be a wife and mother. I have been married to my sweetheart now for 50 years. We have 5 children, 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren to date. They are the source of my joy. When I was 12 years old my mother taught me to sew. It is a talent that has blessed my life and my family. I spent the first 20 years of my married life as an Air Force wife traveling all over the world. Although I did not enjoy the many moves we made, I did love all the places we lived and the different cultures we learned about. I love people, cooking, reading, crafts, sewing, family history research and being with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a pioneer. I am the first member of my family to join The Church. I was raised as a Roman Catholic. I am very grateful for my parents that taught me about Jesus Christ and brought me up in church. When I was married 10 years and had 3 children, I began to ponder my life and what I was doing. I felt there was more to learn and more to do. I am so grateful for 2 young men that put aside their lives to serve a mission and teach me the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. It was an answer to prayer. I love being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is the best decision I have ever made in my life outside of marrying my husband. I know the Book of Mormon is the true word of God and was translated by Joseph Smith, a prophet called of God. It is a comfort to me to know there are prophets on the earth today to guide us. There is peace and safety in living the commandments and keeping covenants made. I have learned that commandments were given from a loving Heavenly Father to make my life joyful and good. In return it makes me want to live my life the best I can. I love the Temple and am excited to be called to serve a mission working in one of these holy places. Being a member of the church has not only blessed my life but has blessed my children and grandchildren. I have been a member now for 40 years and have loved every minute of it.

How I live my faith

I have served in many different positions in the church. Each one has helped me grow and develop. I am thankful for the opportunities to serve and help others. It is true that you love those you serve. I know by serving my fellow man I am also serving my Savior, Jesus Christ. By serving others it has brought me closer to Him. I am trying to follow His example each day. I never felt I was very good at teaching but when the Lord calls you to a position, He also supports you. I know I can call upon that help through my faith and prayers. I have come to know He always answers me and loves me.
