Hi I'm Sara

I grew up in California. I'm a dancer who loves running. I come from a family with ten kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up a dedicated competitive gymnast. My freshmen year of high school, I switched to trampoline and tumbling where I placed top ten in the nation for both of my events. I later joined the high school advanced dance team, cross country team, and track & field team. I was a short person in varsity high jump, long jump, and triple jump. I love reading and being with my family. There are ten kids (I am the fifth) in my family. The last four were adopted from Ukraine and the youngest is deaf. Since high school, I have continued running in my free time and dancing. I am attending Brigham Young University Idaho where I want to obtain a Masters degree after I serve my 18 month LDS mission. I am called to serve in Arkansas in the Spanish language. I am currently learning American Sign Language for my little five-year-old brother and Spanish for my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am so thankful to be living during a prophetic dispensation and in a time with the gospel of Jesus Christ restored with priesthood authority from God. I love this gospel and it brings me so much joy and comfort. I know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet of God and that he was given the priesthood authority organize Christ’s church on the earth once again. I know that the Book of Mormon is true through personal experience. I know that the history in the Book of Mormon is true and that the positive warmth I receive from reading the Book of Mormon is undeniable. I know that I can read and find answers to my questions in the scriptures along with prayer and the Holy Ghost. I am excited to have the opportunity to go to the Mexico MTC to learn more about teaching this gospel to others. I want to be able to express to others the pure joy of the gospel through the Holy Ghost. I am eager spend 18 months entirely immersed in learning the gospel and doing God’s work. I know Heavenly Father has a plan for me. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me, and he will send comfort and support through difficult times. I know that with faith, I can be in tune with the spirit and teach to my best capacity and that the Lord will guide me. I know that Jesus Christ atoned for the sins of all the world and that anyone can repent and return to live with our Father in Heaven again. I love how this church has brought my family closer together. We love each other, cry for each other, and help each other. The church teaches my family standards that make us happier, and it makes my home a safe place. I've absolutely loved growing up in this church and going through the youth programs. High school is often a time when teenagers feel insecure and alone, but even in hard times, I was never alone. The church kept me close to my family and the members at church were amazing examples that kept me on track with the life that I want to live. I know my Heavenly Father loves me. His church proves it.

How I live my faith

I love going to church with my family when I am home and with my friends when I am at school. I love my personal time to read the scriptures and prepare for my mission. The spirit is so strong in the moments where I am alone to ponder what I read and study. I know my questions can be answered through my prayers and by actively living a gospel centered life. As a youth between ages 12-18 I was greatly involved in the church youth program. I learned leadership by being called to be president for my age group. I helped plan activities, reach out the others in need, and learned to love the other girls my age no matter the circumstance. I learned morals that I cherish and keep with me forever. The values we are taught at that age are faith, divine nature, individual worth, knowledge, choice and accountability, good works, integrity, and virtue. These are my values I hold close to as I date young men and make friends. I am almost nineteen-years-old and I am currently preparing to serve an 18 month mission in Arkansas in the Spanish language. As a woman, it is optional for me to go on a mission. I have felt the spirit and have felt impressed that I need to go. I am putting my life on hold and leaving my family for 18 months so that other families can be together forever. I do not currently speak Spanish, but I am learning and plan to do my very best to teach the gospel in the Spanish language.
