Hi I'm Shalene

I grew up in Seattle area. I love the arts, including painting, reading, and playing the French Horn. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently attending BYU-Idaho as an Illustrations major and I love it there! It is a wonderful school with wonderful people. I place a lot of value on hobbies, and concentrate a lot on my paintings and drawings. I love art! I also love music, and have been playing the French Horn for six years. I am also now serving a mission for the LDS church in Belgium/Netherlands.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church and raised all of my life following the teachings of the gospel. It wasn't until my high school years when my faith was really tested and I really began to gain a testimony of the truth of this gospel. I had some periods throughout high school where I stopped reading my scriptures and praying and doing the basics, but I recognized that when I read my scriptures steadily and attended early morning seminary I was able to be strengthened through the difficulty of High School and college. I know that I need the Lord to help strengthen me. I continue to follow the gospel because I know that this church is Christ's true church.

How I live my faith

Currently I live my faith by living morally, strengthening my relationship with my Heavenly Father (through diligent scripture study and prayer and attending church), and fulfilling my calling. Right now I am an Activity Day leader in my home ward, which means that I plan activities for 8-11 year old girls. We have had so much fun cooking and drawing and making cookies! It is a joy to help those girls.
