Hi I'm Emmy

I was born in England but I grew up all over the United States. I'm a student at Brigham Young University. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a freshman at BYU studying statistics. I love to read and I love to cook.

Why I am a Mormon

I've grown up in the LDS church but I didn't really develop my own testimony until high school. I went to a Catholic high school where I had to take Catholic religion classes. Pretty quickly I started to get really confused about what I actually believed. I decided to read my scriptures, to go to seminary, and to pray about what I was learning both in Catholic school and in seminary. It was soon confirmed to me that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. Going to Catholic school really tested my faith and it forced me to decide on what I was going to believe. I learned so much from Catholic school about similarities between Mormonism and Catholicism and how to talk to people of other faiths about my faith. Catholicism is a wonderful religion but it doesn't have the restored priesthood authority and ordinances that the LDS church has. It is those priesthood keys and ordinances restored by Joseph Smith that set our church apart from any other. I know Joseph Smith really was a prophet of God, I know that all the prophets after Joseph Smith including our current prophet, Thomas S. Monson, were called of God, I know that the Book of Mormon is true, I know that Jesus Christ is our loving savior who suffered and died for our sins. It is because I know all of these wonderful things and more, that I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Currently in my ward I am on a committee that plans activities centered around temple and family history work. We teach people how to do family history work and we plan temple trips and other activities.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The Atonement is the incredible miracle of Jesus Christ suffering all of our pains and afflictions and ultimately suffering death to overcome sin! In order to satisfy justice, a price had to be paid for the sins of mankind. Jesus Christ mercifully paid that price for each of us so that we can return to live with our Heavenly Father!
