Hi I'm Sophie

I'm a dancer, I'm attending BYU--Idaho, I love learning new things and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have always loved dancing. I have been a ballroom dancer as well as a member of my local Color Guard team. When I dance I feel so confident and am reminded that I am a beautiful daughter of my Heavenly Father. I enjoy hiking, rock climbing (though I'm not very good), nature, and eating food. :0) I am currently attending Brigham Young University--Idaho and planning on majoring in Speech Therapy. I just got called to serve in the Alpine-Germany Speaking Mission. I am excited and honored to wear the Lord's name on my chest.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love it! I was blessed to have grown up in a strong Mormon home and because of that and because of the example of my parents, I continue to live the gospel everyday and strive to come closer to my Savior Jesus Christ. I find so much comfort and peace from this gospel. Life is hard but this gospel has helped me gain more of an eternal perspective and helped me realize the things that matter most in this life. I am a Mormon because this gospel have given me the knowledge that I have a purpose and that no matter what I am never alone.

How I live my faith

Rather than just attending my church meetings once a week every week, I strive to live my faith everyday. My faith applies to everyday of my life. I serve in a Young Single Adult ward at BYU--Idaho as a FHE "mom" every Monday I help plan an activity with a group of 12-18 students beginning each activity with a hymn, prayer and a gospel thought. Everyday I pray to my Father in Heaven and thank Him for the many blessings that He has given me, I study my scriptures and apply them into my daily life. Every time that I go/look outside the beautiful Idaho mountains and trees remind me that God lives and loves me, they testify of that.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Jesus Christ is known as our Savior and the reason he has been given that name as well as many others is because of the atonement. Christ atoned for our sins. When we commit sins, it is because of Him that we can repent and come unto Him. Not only did he atone for our sins, but he has also felt everyone's pain and anguish. When we are going through a hard time and may find ourselves thinking "No one understands me" or "No one has ever felt this way before" we can remind ourselves that someone has felt that pain. We are never alone because of Him. He gives us comfort. 2 Nephi 9:7 "...it must needs be an infinite atonement..." Show more Show less
