Hi I'm Ben S

I like learning, running, and music. I love my family. I know the LDS church is true, I love sharing the gospel, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the second oldest in a family of eight children (four boys and four girls). I was born in California and loved the ocean, and was raised in Idaho where I grew to appreciate the mountains. So, I grew to love the outdoors. I have spent a large section of my life running long distance starting with track in 5th grade to cross-country in 7th grade, all of which I pursued through high school as a varsity runner. I have gone on several camping trips throughout my life too, where I have learned to enjoy fishing, hiking, backpacking, and hunting. Scouting has also become a part of me from cub scouts until I got my Eagle, and I want to "do a good turn daily" because of it. I love to learn and will continue to study Microbiology as my major at a university in Utah. Music is a passion in my life. I love listening to all sorts of music, but rock genres tend to be my favorite. I have played the viola and piano all my life, and recently begun to learn guitar and bass guitar. Board games and role playing games have definitely been a big part in my life as well. Since I was a young child I have been spent many late nights with family and friends gaming for hours. Family history is a personal hobby I have gained as I love to learn the stories of my ancestors. Now I am serving as a missionary in the Arizona, Tempe Mission and am awaiting my visa to serve in Harare, Zimbabwe Africa. I love to share my testimony of Jesus Christ with everyone I meet.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be a Mormon because it makes me happy. Living the teachings of Christ and his Gospel brings me closer to God and to everyone around me, who are his children. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church because I have lived the principles found therein, and know them to be true and to make me happy. I know this church to be the only true church with all of the correct principles to return back to Heavenly Father above, and strive to better myself each day to reach that goal. When I make mistakes in my life, I know that I can repent and try again because my Father in Heaven sent his Son Jesus Christ to die for me and to atone for my sins. Because he atoned for me, I know that he has experienced all of my trials and tribulations, and he knows perfectly what I am going through. He loves me as my older brother, and he wants me and everyone else to return with him to God, my Heavenly Father. In order to return to be with him again he has showed me a plan of happiness through his church. I know that his church was restored, or brought back, through a modern-day prophet Joseph Smith. This young boy, like me, had questions and was willing to pray to God to find truth for himself. I know that God the Father, and his Son Jesus Christ appeared unto him and over time gave him counsel on how to restore Christ's church on the Earth today. I also know that Christ sent prophets of old to restore the Priesthood, which is God's power given to men on Earth in order for them to be able to perform ordinances for others, which are required to return back to God. I also know that this Priesthood power allows for families to be sealed together for time and eternity in one of God's houses on Earth, called a temple. I'm a Mormon because I love my family, and I want to live happily with them forever and ever. God has made this possible through his church, and I strive to follow what he says in order to be able live happily with my family forever.

How I live my faith

I have been in the scouting program since I was a cub scout, and am an Eagle Scout now. Scouting has provided many opportunities to serve others, as the scout motto is to do a good turn daily. I also helped my community by being a home teacher. That was a good way for me to show my love towards my neighbors by watching out for several families by serving them in any way they need, and helping them grow together under God as families. Right before my mission I served at my church congregation as a Substitute teacher for younger children. Now I am serving in the Arizona, Tempe Mission as I await my visa to serve in Harare, Zimbabwe. As a missionary I share the truths I know to be true and try to help others come unto Christ. I also act as a representative of Christ and strive to live like He did in every aspect of my life by trying to serve others in all aspects of my life. Every day I show that I live my faith by praying to God, our loving Heavenly Father. I also spend time studying the scriptures so that I can learn the words of the prophets in order to know how to better myself in the service of my God and my fellow brethren. My favorite part about being a missionary is the opportunities I get to love, serve, and teach others about Jesus Christ. I love His gospel because by living it we can truly change. I began to experience this before my mission, and I love serving more of God's children and witnessing them make changes in their lives as well. Christ really did live for us, died for us, and lives again to help us.
