Hi I'm Patrick

I'm a Mormon, born in the Church and Sealed for Eternity to my sweet wife Betty, and we live the gospel of Jesus Christ.

About Me

I was baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ at 8 years old, primarily due to my Grandmother who took me to church with her. My parents were members but not active. I progressed in the church until my early teens, ordained as a Teacher in the Aaronic Priesthood, then became inactive. I attended an Electronics Engineering school after graduation from High School in 1958 and obtained a 1st Class Radio Engineering License, and I joined the Navy in 1960 to avoid the draft and served in cryptography and data operations until 1967. I served in Hawaii, Okinawa, and in Vietnam from 1966-1967. I married a non-member in 1960, and we had four children. In 1971 my wife and I became active in the church, and were sealed to each other. She passed away in 1989 due to a brain aneurysm, and I remarried another non-member and became inactive again. In 2003 I lost my oldest daughter to massive heart failure, and in 2006 my wife passed away due to cancer. I prayed to God and asked what should I do. The answer was immediate, come unto me and return to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I returned to church, became worthy of a Temple Recommend, and went to the Temple often. In 2008 I met a wonderful woman, who also was an active Temple participant, we laughed together, found joy together, became friends, fell in love and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, one of my life long dreams and where my Grandmother and Grandfather were sealed. God gave me a broken road that led me straight to her.

Why I am a Mormon

I have lived in both the unrighteous World, and in the righteous World, and bare witness that living in the righteous World is full of joy, true happiness, love, and hope. With a true love of Christ life is so much easier to live. We still can be faced with life and death issues, but these issues are so much easier to overcome when living in the grace of Jesus Christ. I have learned that we can walk on the hard path of life, or on the easy path of life, and I choose the easy path that Christ has laid before me through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is not hard to live this way, although there are those who would say so, I find it to be much easier after having experienced both paths. I recently lost my Mother to cancer, and have so much comfort knowing she, my daughter, and my wife will be with me again for all eternity. What can be more comforting, and reassuring than knowing this is my future forever. That is my testimony, and I witness that it is true, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

Today I am ordained as a High Priest, I have served an 18 month service Mission at the Eastern Arizona College Institute of religion, called as a Scout Committee Chairman, High Priest Teacher, Gospel Doctrine Teacher, Family History Consultant, Sunday School President, and currently the Ward Clerk in the Bishopric. As a priesthood holder, we are called to Home Teach members of our Ward and look out for their needs and provide any service they may need, and I take this calling very seriously, making sure I visit my families regularly, and serve/support them as needed.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Patrick
Through Jesus Christ and his Atonement, this is the only path to eternal life, the only way we can repent, be baptized, and take upon us his name, look to him for all things, be grateful for all he has given us, live in his grace and endure to the end, we can return to him and the Father and live with them for eternity.
