Hi I'm Gary

I grew up in Southern Indiana, lived in St Louis, San Antonio, and Dallas. I am retired and have 6 children and 12 grandchildren.

About Me

I'm a Dad. I enjoy doing volunteer work, photography, travel, sports, and interacting with my grandchildren. I am handy at repairing things and find that saves our family money. I am retired, after working for 33 years at the telephone company, as a project manager.

Why I am a Mormon

I was dating a Mormon young lady and knew that as we became serious about each other and may marry, that I wanted to have a family that would attend Church together. I tried to show her that my church at the time was what I felt was right. She insisted that hers was the right one. I started reading The Book of Mormon. As I prayed and read, I found that I was reading the word of God. I then had a choice to make. Would I join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and leave the Church that I then belonged to? I knew that if I joined the Church that it would hurt my parents. I loved and respected them, but I knew I had to choose what Heavenly Father wanted me to do. I made a choice to be baptized. I was 21 years old. Since that time, my experiences in the Church have increased my knowledge and testimony of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

As a member of my Church congregation, I have been involved over many years with the Boy Scout program. I have enjoyed being a leader of meetings, being in administrative positions, being a teacher of children and youth, being a person who visits others in their homes, accompanying the missionaries as they visit non-member families, and giving service to others.
