Hi I'm Payton

I grew up in Elk Ridge Utah, I play lacrosse for Southern Virginia University, I'm a Mormon

About Me

My name is Payton, and I'm a freshmen in college this year. I'll be serving a mission in Tokyo Japan this summer. I love playing sports. Right now, I play lacrosse for SVU. I have traveled halfway around the world from Hawaii to Italy. I love to travel because it lets you see so many different places and how different people live their lives. it also makes me more grateful for the things I have. This last summer I had the opportunity to go on a humanitarian trip to Guatemala. It was an amazing life changing experience.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this church is Jesus Christ's only true church on the earth today. I know this because the Holy Ghost has witnessed to me through the spirit that Jesus Christ lives, Joseph Smith was a Prophet, and that the Book of Mormon is true! I know these things to be true with every fiber of my being. I know that Jesus performed an Atonement for all of our sins, including mine, so that we can be made clean through repentance and baptism by proper priesthood keys that were restored to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith. I know that we can have a second, third, forth, or however many chances we need to be made clean through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I know this because I have messed up countless times, and every time I have turned to the Savior for forgiveness, he has always been there to forgive me and help me get back on the right track.

How I live my faith

I am currently the Assistant Ward Clerk in my ward here on campus. I handle all the finances for the ward and make sure all the records are up to date with the information they need. It's a lot of fun actually.

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

The prophet today is President Thomas S. Monson. Just as they did in Biblical times, the prophet receives revelation for the people from God. This same pattern of communication continues today. The prophet is the Lords mouthpiece on the earth today, meaning he tells the world what God wants the world to know. I know that President Monson is the prophet on the earth today. I know that he receives revelation from God on behalf of his children. God still speaks to us today. Show more Show less
