Hi I'm Corryn Madsen

I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. I became active at the age of 12. I'm currently serving a mission in Oakland, CA. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am Ecuadorian. I played basketball growing up and loved to learn about other sports and outdoor activities. I absolutely love to play the guitar. I am currently attending college right now and am studying Criminal Justice. I love to help others and want to make a career out of it by becoming a social worker.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it has made my life better. My parents did not raise me in the church but missionaries came to my door when I was about 12 years old. I didn't quite understand things but all these questions that I had were being answered such as, "Why am I here?". I may have been 12 years old but faced a lot of trial in my home. My dad had a lot of issues and I didn't understand why I was put in this hard situation. I questioned what the point of living even was if I felt so invisible. Since that first Sunday, I knew there was something special about this church. In my young 12 year old head, I knew that this place had this feeling I never felt before in my life. And that feeling was peace. I felt loved from people I never even met before and they encouraged me to keep coming back. As I continued to attend the youth activities my testimony started growing without me even realizing it. I was starting to learn that there was a God and that He loves me. That knowledge alone brought me out of the darkness that surrounded me. Nearly seven years later, I'm still here. My parents still aren't active but I continued to participate. I am a Mormon because I know that there is reason for me being here. We aren't here to suffer and then die. We are on this Earth to learn and to grow. My brother, Jesus Christ, died for me so that I can come back to Him. I know that I am loved. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. As I've studied and prayed about it my Heavenly Father confirmed to me that it is true. God answers prayers. He listens. We just have to come unto him. I know this is the true church of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I participate in my ward by attending all the activities I possibly can. I never miss a Sunday service and attend religious institute classes along with my regular college courses. I tend to volunteer to help out a lot in activities that my ward puts on such as community Easter egg hunts or ward potlucks. I love my ward and want to do all I can to give back for all the help and strength they've provided me.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Corryn Madsen
Mormons do not worship Joseph Smith, we worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and in God the Eternal Father. We do however respect and proclaim Joseph because he was the prophet that God chose to restore the Church of Jesus Christ. With out Joseph Smith, the gospel would have not been restored in these latter-days. We believe that Prophets are here on the the earth to lead and guide and are most importantly mouth pieces for our Heavenly Father. They receive revelation for the earth. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Corryn Madsen
Mormon missionaries will share the message of Jesus Christ and the love He has for every single one of us. They will share where we came from, why we are here, and where we are going after this life. They'll also share how we can come to live with our Savior and our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
