Hi I'm Gabriel Scott

I grew up in Aurora, Colorado and am currently serving a mission in Portugal, Lisbon. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just recently started attending college to study computer science. I really enjoy programming and hope to be a software developer somewhere down the line. I have two sisters, making me the middle child of the family. Whenever I can I try to get out and golf, even though I probably couldn't get a whole lot worse. I also like to read books, namely thrillers in my free time between classes. My favorite author is probably John Katzenbach because of how in depth he creates each character and their respective situations.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents have been lifelong members. Because of this, I was born into the church. I have grown up learning the principles of the church and the gospel and have been lucky enough to have parents and church leaders that have been great examples and extremely supportive. However, it was not until I went away to college that I feel that I have really started to understand for myself and accept this church. Having much more freedom, aside from being more fun and relaxing at times, can be a huge struggle. When there aren't people there telling you what the right thing to do is, I have learned that you have to do it because you actually want to and because you believe that it is the right thing. I have also learned that almost nothing worthwhile in this life is easy. And I don't think there's a member out there that will tell you the church is easy. But I have had experiences and blessings that I cannot believe came from anywhere but my Heavenly Father. I follow and believe in the church because I have heeded the counsel of church authorities and not just been a blind follower, but have gained, through faith and constant practice, a trust in my God that I know this is the true church.

How I live my faith

In my church branch I help to teach some of the classes that are tailored to new members and investigators. This calling really helps me to see many points of doctrine from a potential first time learner's view. I am also part of the ward missionary program. This program helps to find new people to teach and to try and fellowship less active members. Aside from callings, one of my favorite parts is attending institute. This is a class given each week about various topics regarding the church and the scriptures. On top of that, I have recently been called as a full time missionary. This means that I will serve for two full years away from my home in order to teach the gospel.
