Hi I'm Mikella

I'm an artist and a writer, I'm a Texan, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the middle of nowhere in the foothills of the Siera Nevada Mountains, and then moved to Texas. Having a background in both the country and the city has given me a broad perspective and a desire to understand all cultures. There are cultures of different countries and there are cultures of different states; I want to know and understand them all. I hope to be able to travel and write about all the cultures I meet so that others may see that we are all the same. We are all human. If we were to walk in the shoes of another we get to see the world from a new perspective. I am attending school up in Idaho for English and Humanities. I hope to work for National Geographic as a journalist!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon as my family before me. I was raised in this church, but I chose to accept it and make it apart of me at a young age. I remember when we lived in California going into my mother's room and praying. I wanted to know if the church was true. I wanted to know if there was a God and if He cared about me. I must have been near the age of 8 as I was considering if I wanted to be baptized. My parents were all for it but I wanted to make sure this was something I decided for myself. When I prayed, I had this warm feeling overcome me. It was a feeling of peace and love. I felt like I was being hugged, and that I was home. At the time I didn't know but that was the Holy Ghost guiding me and letting me that this church is true. I am a Mormon because I know this church is true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in every action. I am a child of God before I am a writer and before I am a student. As of right now I am serving a full time proceliting mission in the Philippines, where I have the amazing opportunity to share the gospel with those who wish to hear. I wish I could invite all to hear and try the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to feel and understand His atonement. Before my mission I served as a Relief Society teacher. I taught my fellow students every fourth week of the month, and treasured the times I was able to teach. This was, just as my mission is, a volunteer position where I taught my peers. We are all one, simply wishing to be edified and taught through the Holy Ghost. Its not me who is teaching, but the Holy Ghost.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Why do we serve? Who wouldn't want to share this gospel? A candle's light it not lessened when it shares the flame with others, it only makes the world brighter. We believe that we are all God's children and that He loves us. Members of the church serve full time missions because we want to help bring God's children closer to him through faith, baptism, repentance, guidance through the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end. By continuously depending upon Jesus' Atonement we can return to God's presence. Show more Show less
