Hi I'm Porter

I love sports, music, and Jesus Christ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to play the piano. Music inspires me and makes me want to become a better person. I plan to enter college as a piano performance major, and I can't wait! I also like to play sports with friends, including basketball, football, and baseball. I love my family and friends, even my pesky little brother.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. However, I didn't gain a personal conversion until I was 14. I won't go into details because it is a very personal story for me, but I will say this. Before, I had believed the church was true since so many others did. I thought it must be true because most of my family did. I had previous experiences feeling the Spirit, but conflicting thoughts presented themselves inside of me that made me doubt. I was confused and lonely and very sad. But an experience that I had when I was 14 changed my life. I felt spiritually recharged, and all of the doubts in my head had vanished. The Holy Spirit visited me, testifying to me that the church was true and that I had no need to doubt. I felt so warm and happy. Nothing in the world could've made me feel any happier than I was at that moment. Since then, I've known this church is the truest church on earth. I love the quote "Doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith". I testify that God lives and that he has a plan for me, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I love to serve others in my community. I regularly visit this sweet old lady in my ward boundaries, and she loves to give me lots of treats! I participate in the ward choir as the pianist, although I do love to sing along. I have recently been called to serve a mission, and I'm excited to share my feelings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with those I will associate with. I have a lot of friends my age that come to church, and I'm so glad they make the decision every week to come because they influence me in a positive way. We love to go to church meetings on Sunday because we feel a tremendous Spirit when we do.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

God knows each of us and cares about us, no matter what condition we are in. I know he has a plan just for me. He comforts me when I feel lonely, and His love encompasses me when I pray to Him. Show more Show less
