Hi I'm Gary

I grew up in Spanish Fork, Utah. I attended Utah State University and later worked there for thirty years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah and have lived here for all of my life. It is a beautiful state with a great variety of scenery and activity. I have always enjoyed the out-of-doors. My wife and six children would go camping every summer. My two sons and I learned how to tie fishing flies and spent many wonderful moments trying to master the art of fly fishing. Both of the boys have become master fishermen. They must of had a great teacher. As I am getting older, I have retired my fly fishing rod for a fishing boat. My wife and I enjoy trolling and lakes now. I fish with two poles and my wife reads. A wonderful combination we enjoy while being together. I truly enjoy doing projects. Whether it is remodeling a room, doing electrical work, painting, plumbing or whatever, sign me up. Our vacations are centered around our children and grandchildren, and when we spend time at their homes, they always have plenty of projects to keep me busy. Working side-by-side with them is wonderful. It reminds me of a statement my dad made to me when I was younger. He said, "when you work, work hard, and when you play, play hard." That has been great advise to me throughout my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are true. I know this because I have studied the teachings and then have gotten down on my knees and prayed to God to confirm my belief. I have a strong testimony of this because I have received an answer of assurance through the spirit of the Lord. I know that only through the spirit of God can we know with a surety regarding truth. It is His church that I belong to. It is His church that is led by prophets and apostles today - just as was the church set-up by Jesus Christ when He was upon the earth. It is a church patterned after the teachings of God and not a church set-up to follow the ever-changing philosophies of man. It is a sure foundation in a troubled and challenging world. This sure foundation provide direction and purpose for its members and remains and stands as a beacon of unchangeable doctrine to the world. I know that God continues to provide revelation in our day. There is a prophet of God on the earth today and he receives revelation for the church. He speaks and does the will of God and is supported by twelve apostles who are also recognized as apostles, seers, and revelators. They give counsel and guide us through the troubled waters of this earth. Their guidance is steady and their course is consistent with the directions of God. I am so thankful for my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I bear my testimony that it is true.

How I live my faith

I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In other words, I LOVE BEING A MORMON!! I am an active member of my church and enjoy serving and participating in the church. The church provides many opportunities to voluntarily give of your time, means, and talents to others. Helping others grow and progress in their life is such a rewarding experience. I have been able to teach both youth and adults about the church and to share my experiences. I have had the opportunity to oversee groups of people and to help them with challenges and problems that arise in their lives. I have been blessed with the opportunity to attend our church worship services each week and to participate in learning more about who I am. Where I came from. Why I am here on this earth. Where I am going after I die. All of these wonderful teachings help me live my faith and go through this life with purpose and direction.
