Hi I'm Rae

I love sports. I am a future missionary. I love making others smile and happy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors. I love hiking and camping in the mountains. My favorite season is Summer because of the sun and warmth even during the night when I can go star gazing. I am a really social person and love out and hanging with all of them. However, I do like to mix it up a bunch. I like to have days inside in my bedroom reading a good book like Harry Potter, the Divergent series, The Book of Mormon, the Maximum Ride series too. I'm really into sports. I played soccer as a kid then wrestling, and now I play basketball and softball.

Why I am a Mormon

Well, I was born and raised in the church so getting baptised was really just another decision that was regular for my family. However, my conversion story still exists. I still continue to have them too. My first real conversion was when I was 7 about to turn 8. 8 is the age that we baptize in the LDS faith. I was really questioning whether or not this was something I believed or was I just going off of what my parents were telling me. I talked to my mom late one night and said, "Mom, I don't know if I believe God." And I was a little surprised at what she said. She told me she was proud of me for questioning. We all should question our faith at some point because if we "pray with a pure heart with real intent having faith in Christ he will manifest the truth of it unto you by the power of the Holy Ghost." So that's what I did. I really wanted to know that this religion that I was about to be baptized into was the one that I really knew was true. I can't explain the feeling I got when I found out. I pleaded with Heavenly Father to help me know for MYSELF that this was the true church. I read my scriptures and did as Joseph Smith did. I felt the Spirit testify to me that what I was doing was true. I didn't hear a great big booming voice. I didn't have a heavenly being appear to me. I had a warm feeling inside. It gripped my heart like a giant hug. It was then I knew that I was making the right decision by being baptized into the LDS faith and becoming a member. It was then I knew that I was following Christ's path. I know this church is true and that Joseph Smith was a true prophet. I know that Christ lives and He suffered for my pains, sorrows, and sins personally like He did for everyone else. I leave these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as branch missionary in my Young Single Adult branch as well as a Family Home Evening coordinator. I am always looking for ways to share the gospel with others, yet I try to use service as the best way to show Christ's love for others.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Rae
No, we don't worship Joseph Smith. We know Joseph Smith to be a prophet of God who restored His church on the earth for the latter (current) times. We love and cherish Joseph for all that he has done for God and for Christ and for the church. We recognize the kind of man he had to be to be humble enough to search for answers, to find them, and to seek truth when all around him were telling him it was wrong. I personally respect Brother Joseph so much. I had the opportunity to visit the Carthage Jail in Illinois and was immersed in the history of where he was martyred. He is a great example to me and the phrase of "enduring to the end." No matter what trials he faced (and he faced a great deal of hardships) he stayed close to the Lord and leaned on him for support. No he wasn't perfect, but he was a great leader and a true prophet of the Lord. Show more Show less
