Hi I'm James Mullen

I was born in the US. I'm preparing to serve a mission in Brazil. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In high school I was an active member of the Speech and Debate team. I was a varsity wrestler and was involved in multiple service clubs. I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family, from dead-of-winter camping trips to fly fishing on summer evenings, hiking to hunting, sightseeing to mountain bike riding. I was my class valedictorian and after my full time mission I plan to obtain a degree in an engineering field.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be a member of Christ's church because in it I have found true joy. The Church and its guidelines have helped me to feel better about myself and my place in the world than I could find anywhere else. The Church has also given me opportunities to share this joy with others that haven't found it yet. Because of the Church I'm able to reach out to those around me and help make their burdens lighter to bare. I'm able to lead them to Christ. This makes me happy. Growing up I struggled to find myself. I didn't feel like I fit in with anyone no matter how hard I tried. The Church has given me a community. Somewhere I know that I belong, where I can find ways to use my talents and where I am blessed by fellow members. I know that Christ's church exists today. I know that He leads my faith. I have felt his love for me and I know that everyone can feel His love as well. I know that we are never alone; I know that He is always there for us.

How I live my faith

I've served members of my ward as a family history advisor. I helped to teach a class about family history work and helped my neighbors access resources that connected them to that work. I've also served at various points as a leader of youth my age. Together, we planned and completed activities that both helped others and allowed us to grow closer as a group. My faith has helped me to reach out to those in need around me. As a teenager in an ego centric world, I see many of my peers tune out others in their quests for self progression. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has expanded my view as I actively strive to serve as He would.
