Hi I'm Craig A. Buchanan

I grew up in Star Valley, Wyoming, and graduated in 2016. I hope to go to Culinary School, and am serving a mission in D.C.

About Me

I was born in Lebanon Oregon, and then moved to "The One And Only" Star Valley, Wyoming. I am currently serving a mission from July 2016 - July 2018, and I am serving in the Washington D.C. North Mission. Some of my hobbies include: Hunting & fishing, working on cars, cooking, going to the lake, snowmobiling, and spending quality time with friends. I am the oldest of 4, followed by 3 younger sisters. I'm a fan of pretty much all type of music, but country will always have a special place in my heart. I am a football fan of the Miami Dolphins. I graduated from Star Valley High School in the class of 2016, and when I finish my mission, I hope to pursue a career in Culinary Arts!:) Some of the most important things to me are my Friends, as well as family. I loved growing up in such a small community, and that might sound a little weird to some people, but there's nothing like getting out and just having some time by yourself to sit and think about the world, and everything going on today.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I gained a testimony that this church is Christ's true church that he organized, and Joseph Smith restored in this Latter-Day. It took me a while to figure that out for myself. I was baptized at the age of 11 which was pretty young, and I thought Baptism was pretty cool. Trust me, I didn't know what I was getting into. I grew up in the church, and went most Sundays until about halfway through Sophomore year of high school. That's when I started going maybe just for sacrament, or just to mutual activities. Finally senior year rolled around, and I decided to go talk with my uncle which was the scout leader at the time. We talked, and he told me about his mission, and what came from that, so it made me think a lot about what I want in the future. Then came that time that the bishop grabbed me and pulled me in his office, and talked with me about going on a mission, and what my concerns were. Long story short, I ended up turning my papers in, and getting the results back in 6 weeks. Thats when I got called to serve in the WDCN Mission. I got into the MTC, and didn't really like it, but when I got into the mission field it all changed. I love my mission, and I am so glad that I decided to come out. I do know that Jesus Christ knows what we are all going through, and sometimes we might need a little help along the way. I know that Joseph Smith is a Prophet of God, and he revealed an ancient book of Scriptures called the Book of Mormon. You can know for yourself that it's true by reading it, and truly praying about it. God will reveal an answer to you. Just keep in mind that it may not come automatically. Most of the time it will take time. There is a short 6 minute video that I would ask you to watch if you haven't seen it. It's called, "The Hope Of Gods Light". It was a big inspiration for me, and I know if your going through a hard time, come to this church. There is just something about the people in this church that will let you know it's true.

How I live my faith

I live & show my faith by trying to be an example for other people. Sometimes it is hard to be that example, expecially when you feel like everyone is against you, but I like to think about a Nephite Prophet in the Book of Mormon, and his name is Abinadi. He died not knowing that anyone listened to him, but in reality, one person did. Even though it was only one person, we know that that one person did many great things. So I know if we try to be that example of what we believe in, you might not see it, but someone might be looking up to you. I also live my faith by serving a full-time 2 year mission for the Lord to expand his kingdom here on Earth. Sometimes it's hard, but I have learned that we only get faced with challenges that we are able to overcome. We believe in "Enduring to the End", which also means to keep going and moving forward. Enduring might not always be easy, and a lot of people know that, but we all go through those things and we are able to overcome those trials, because of Jesus Christ and his Atonement.
