Hi I'm Jess

I grew up in Utah and North Dakota. I love to volunteer in my free time. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am currently living in the beautiful state of Colorado, preparing to serve on a mission for my church. I decided to do this when attending college in North Dakota. When trying to decided on what major was right for me I felt like I needed to be doing something else, not sitting in lectures. College was a fun experience for me because I was able to gain new friends, volunteer at the local animal shelter, and hang out at parties and events. My favorite thing was going out with friends to the café in the morning and getting my morning hot cocoa. North Dakota is a nice place, however I love Colorado, due to the mountains and gorgeous trails surrounding me. Outdoors is my favorite place to be especially when I am with family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the LDS faith by both my parents and most of my family members. Ever since I was young I remember going to church every Sunday and going to activities on Tuesday or Wednesday night. As I reach my teenage years I rebelled against my parents forcing me into this gospel. I wanted to have my own belief and my own desire to follow Jesus Christ. I hardened my heart towards the gospel and the beliefs I was taught, but at the same time I knew that this church was true. I just had to make the commitment to be apart of this gospel. When I went to college, I started attending an extra class on Tuesday called Institute. I love the couple missionaries that would teach us and share with us lessons about Jesus Christ. The Missionaries and the bishop helped me find my way back to the church and by doing that I started to study and pray more for the confirmation that this church was true. I now am preparing to depart on a mission for the church to California and I have a testimony that I know in my heart what I am doing is the right thing to do and that this church is right for me. However, nobody is perfect and I have a lot to learn. I am excited to grow more in the church and be able to share that with others.

How I live my faith

I attend church every sundae to participate in sacrament and classes. Currently I am teaching 5-6 years olds during my class hours. It is so fun to hear how their weeks went and seeing the joy on their face as they learn about the gospel. When striving to be a good example to my family and friends I find my self following my the commandments and guidelines God has given me. This things help protect me and help me stay positive through out my day, even if I have to go to work at 5am during a snow storm.
