Hi I'm Jake Slauson

I grew up in Sandy, Utah. I'm a believer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am just an average teenager, who was blessed to be able to be born into the church. I love sports, watching, playing, it doesn't matter, I love it. In High School I played golf two years, and football one year. I am a senior in High School, and I have recently received my mission call to Nebraska, Omaha, Spanish speaking. I report to the Mexico MTC on July 26, 2016. I am so excited and blessed to be able to serve the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I lived on my parents testimonies for a long time. I wasn't sure I believed, and quite frankly I didn't really care to believe. When I was 15, I started to care less and less about the gospel and more about having fun. No point in my life was I more lost and confused. For about a year I struggled with what I wanted and where I was headed. There came a point in my life where I had to ask myself a question, What do I want out of my life? The answer came so clearly and so perfectly. I had a lesson in church that will forever be a turning point in my life. It directly addressed a problem I had been dealing with, and the spirit touched me more strongly than it ever has before. It inspired me to make changes in my life and align myself with the church. However, it wasn't happily ever after, I wanted to change but I wasn't able to do it by myself. The Lord continued to bless my life when I was reached out by my bishop. He provided the details and the way that the Savior Jesus Christ offers to help heal our hearts forever. With the Lord's strength, and the Savior's loving atonement I was able to escape the misery of sin, and partake of the redeeming love of the Savior. Since that time, I have been able to continue my understanding of the doctrine and every day it continues into an everlasting appreciation of the Plan of Salvation (the plan Christ offers us to return to our heavenly home and have everlasting happiness with our families forever). Now I have received my mission call and am preparing to serve the Lord. I am so grateful for the blessing and opportunity that I have to serve God's children and offer them the path to eternal happiness. I can't wait to go! I was born a Mormon and lived off my parent's testimony for 16 years. Now I am a Mormon because I have partaken of the perfect love that is the Atonement of Jesus Christ, and I am forever indebted to him. In the Name of Jesus Christ Amen.

How I live my faith

In my ward I am a member of a group that mainly contains 16-18 year old young men. We are organized together to better help us prepare to serve missions. I have been, but recently released, the groups presiding member besides our bishop. It provided me opportunities to talk about the needs of our group, and if any of our members were struggling in any way. I also am currently a home teacher to 3 families. I have an amazing partner who helps strengthen my testimony. I am blessed with the opportunity to teach once a month. I love the opportunity because it provides me the ability to help strengthen, start, or refresh their testimonies. There is nothing in this world more fulfilling to me than helping someone on the path back to their Savior and Father in Heaven.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Jake Slauson
The Book of Mormon is a book inspired of God just like the Bible. It is the history of the gospel in the Americas from around 600 BC to 400 AD. Included in the book, is the story of Christ's visit to the Americas after he was crucified. The Book of Mormon coincides with the Bible, and continues God's ministry to all his children. The Book of Mormon ends with a prophet named Moroni burying the plates in Hill Cumorah. 1400 years later a man named Joseph Smith prayed and received revelation to restore God's church. With the restored church came the revealing of the Book of Mormon. Joseph was commanded to acquire the plates from the hill that Moroni placed them in nearly 1400 years earlier. He translated the ancient language into English by revelation. With this revelation came the Book of Mormon, and contained in it many further guidance and ordinances that must be partaken of to return to our heavenly father. Show more Show less
