Hi I'm Dylan

I love learning and want to be a Physicist, I'm serving a Mission in West Virginia, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to learn. The Joy that comes from understanding how things work, and especially what we are doing on this Earth is indescribable. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has brought me so much peace and understanding about where I came from, what I'm doing here, and where I'm going. The eternal perspective that comes with the Gospel is so amazing. From June 22, 2016 to 2018 I am serving a mission in West Virginia. Afterwards I plan to work towards obtaining a PhD in Physics. Sometimes in mainstream culture we seem to believe that Religion and Science are polar opposites, however it is not so. The Prophet Brigham Young said something along the lines of "All truth is part of our Gospel". We seek principally after the truths of salvation, but any truths that are discovered by science and philosophy are truths of God as well.

Why I am a Mormon

I was fortunate to be born into a loving family who shared the Gospel with me as I grew up. But I am not a Mormon today because of them. It would be easy to rely upon others faith, to trust that my parents knew, and to simply believe in them. But we cannot endure if we do so. Heavenly Father has set in place a way to communicate with Him; through prayer, and for Him to answer and give us understanding; through the Holy Ghost. We call this Revelation. Without it we would all be lost, wandering and wondering where we are and where we are going. But through the scriptures, latter day prophets, and promptings of the Holy Ghost (through feelings and understanding, are the most common ways for me personally) we can know for ourselves that the Gospel is true, the Book of Mormon and the Bible are the words of God, and that He loves us and wants us to return to him. I'm a Mormon today because I sought and found that Revelation of who Christ is, who Heavenly Father is, and whether the Book of Mormon is true.

How I live my faith

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is: Faith in Jesus Christ, Repentance, Baptism, Receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and Enduring to the End. Living my faith often comes down to doing the small things. Faith in Jesus Christ is more than just believing in Him, but discovering who and what he was, and striving to act and become as he is. Repentance is turning unto him, and is that act of becoming like Christ. Through Repentance, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ as a whole, we can be forgiven of our sins and cleansed through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. We are baptized and receive the Holy Ghost but once, however we renew those covenants every week as we partake of the sacrament. Enduring to the end is doing all these things, throughout our lives-- and on into the eternities. Living, and becoming as Christ is how we live our faith. Following his example, and trusting in his prophets and leaders, and sharing with others what we have come to know and love, truly and deeply: that is how we are to, and I hope I do, live our faith.
