Hi I'm Elder Jacob Owen

I am a missionary serving in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine. I am from St. George, Utah. I love to ski and play soccer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints assigned to labor in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine. I recently graduated high school from Desert Hills. I was on student council: the student body activities representative. I would plan activities for sporting events and other activities during school to involve and bring students together to have a fun time. I was on the boys soccer team and loved every minute of it! We had a good team this year. I also love to ski. Almost every weekend my friends and I would head up the mountain and ski at the semi-local resort called Brian Head. It's a good 1.5 hours from home but it was worth it. I am the oldest child and live with both parents and four crazy, wild younger siblings. We have a fun time playing tennis together and playing board games even though they get very competitive at times. I love my family. I plan to attend BYU after serving.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in the church because my parents are members. I have always had a testimony of the gospel but some experiences have helped strengthen it. I read the Book of Mormon and read Moroni's promise in Moroni 10:3-5 where it says if anyone will ask God with real intent, really wanting an answer, then it will be answered by the Spirit. So I took up the promise and prayed that night if it was true. I had the most overwhelming feeling that came over me. I felt extremely happy and felt joy. I had confidence that it was true because I had that overwhelming feeling. That feeling was the spirit testifying and telling me that the Book of Mormon is true. I have since then had many similar experiences with different aspects of the Gospel. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know we have living prophets to guide us today. I know that the Atonement of Christ can heal ANY mistake or weakness that we might have. Christ has suffered so we can be clean again. I know this is the true gospel and that Jesus Christ is at the helm of this church, guiding us to become better people so we can live with him again. I know Jesus is the Christ. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I am serving the Lord full-time as a missionary. Every waking moment is dedicated toward serving Him and bringing God's children the gospel. Before I served full-time: every Sunday I would go to church and participate in many different meetings. I would go to the regular meetings and I was a leader for the boys aged 16-18. I used to plan ways to keep them more involved and ways they can grow in the gospel. We did activities all together as a group every Tuesday night. I tried and plan something fun that everyone will enjoy but will also prepare them for adulthood. One activity, we learned to cut hair and I volunteered mine to be cut. Not a good idea. But it was a great activity because we all learned the basics to hair cutting. I also tried to get people to the activities that aren't there often and visited them and tried to help them with what they need. I loved planning fun, educational activities for the young men.
