Hi I'm Crete

I am a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love hanging out with friends and playing Golf and Basketball. I am the youngest of six kids in my family. I am the I am a missionary for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints. I'm serving in the Costa Rica San Jose West mission. I reported on June 1st, 2016 and will serve for the next two years.

Why I am a Mormon

I am not a Mormon because I grew up in it or because my parents are Mormons, that is why I started but it doesn't explain why that is the case today. In my life I've been exposed to many wonderful things through this church, namely; firesides, talks, quorum meetings, general conferences, the especially for youth program, the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and much more. These things have helped me grow into the person that I am, and have helped me develop the testimony that I have. I have a testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and of our Savior Jesus Christ, and of our loving Heavenly Father. I know that through bringing their Gospel into our lives can change us, for the better. I know that the Book of Mormon is true, and I know that it has the ability to change lives, and it has changed lives, even my life. Having this testimony means a lot to me, because of the experiences that I have gone through to obtain it. I am very grateful for all that I have gone through and all that I have learned. I am very excited to serve as a missionary for this wonderful Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

In my ward I was called to be the assistant to the bishop in the quorum for my age group (15-17 years). I love this calling and I enjoy working close to the bishop as well as the other assistants. In the stake I am the assistant to the president for our class that prepares us for our lives as missionaries. In each of these callings I have opportunities to teach and listen to my peers. I also home teach, and have a couple families that my dad and I teach once a month.

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

One of the most essential ordinances that we need done for ourselves is baptism. The problem is that not everyone has the chance to do receive this ordinance and pass away before the opportunity presents itself. The reason that we do the proxy baptisms in the temple isn't to automatically make that person a member of the church, it is to give them the chance to choose to accept or decline the ordinance in the next life.
