Hi I'm Jane

I grew up in New Jersey where I was the only Mormon girl in my high school. I am a retired teacher and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 45 years and have 5 children and 18 grandchildren. My oldest son died when he was 26 which was a very difficult experience. I taught Special Education for 22 years in Oregon. I am now retired but I still substitute teach because I love being with the children. I love to read, sew, quilt, travel, hike, and spend time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized into the Mormon church when I was eight years old, but gaining my testimony of it's truthfulness has been a life long process. I love the gospel more each day as I am privileged to serve in the church in different ways. I have read the Book of Mormon many, many times and have prayed to know for a surety that it is true. It explains the teachings of Jesus Christ in such a simple and logical way and I feel the spirit of the Holy Ghost confirming it's truthfulness when I read it. When you know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God then you have to know that the church is true, it is the keystone of our religion. When my oldest son died it was a hard thing, but my knowledge of the plan of salvation and testimony of the gospel is what helped me get through and I know that we will be together again after this life.

How I live my faith

I have had many church callings in my life in all the organizations. They have all been rewarding and a growth experience. I have been a temple worker in the Gilbert, Arizona Temple for two years and love serving there. I will be leaving on a mission with my husband in two weeks to the Wyoming Mormon Trail Mission. I love sharing the gospel and have been a ward missionary for 5 years. I love doing genealogy research and have found family members back to the 1200s. Some of my most unusual church callings were working at our church girls camp for 13 years and being a costume mistress for 4 major musical productions (Annie, Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, and Faith in Every Footstep). I was also a Girl Scout leader for all three of my daughters and volunteered in their schools as a room mother.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

The Mormon church answers the questions that people have about the purpose of life and how to be happy in this life. It stresses the importance of the family and how to strengthen family relationships. Show more Show less
