Hi I'm Jason

I was born in Utah but have lived in Guam and Texas as well. I'm serving my mission in Oaxaca Mexico, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah, but after first grade moved to a very small pacific island called Guam. It helped me first hand experience the beauty of other cultures in the world, and I loved the two years I spent there. The rest of my childhood was spent in Austin, Texas, where I started to feel a great love for the Mexican culture, because without it, food would be much more bland! I am now serving a two year mission in Oaxaca Mexico, where that love of the Mexican culture and people is just increasing exponentially. I also attended for a semester Utah State University, where I had a ton of fun and will be going back to that college after my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

Many people have thought that I'm a Mormon just because I've grown up Mormon, and I will be completely honest here, in some sense that is a little true. I was baptized at 8, not fully understanding what I was doing and a lot of it was because that's just what my family does. But my parents still talked to me and made sure it was my decision and not theirs. As I have gotten older, I have gained my own knowledge though. I know that if I did not grow up Mormon, I would have found this church eventually, and I know I would have joined because of the blessings and comfort I feel in it. I stay in the church not to make my parents or friends happy, but to make me happy, because I am happy when I can feel God's power in my life. And I testify that through the gospel that is taught in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, every person on this earth can feel the power and the hand of God in their lives and see the blessings he bestows upon us. I don't know where I would be without the knowledge of the truth that I have right now, but I do know I would not be nearly as happy. I know that this gospel is what brings me joy in my life and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

As a mormon missionary I am everyday telling people about my faith, but even before I was called to serve a mission I constantly would show by my words and my deeds what I believed. I had the blessing to grow up mostly in Texas and have many, many friends who were not mormons. This just let me to be able to help them understand that I am just as normal as the next guy and I am becoming the best person I can, through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, because what is taught in this church is true, and I will always testify to that. It has and will continue helping me become the person I've always wanted to be. I've always grown up having callings, ever since I was old enough to be called to be the president of my twelve year old youth group. While I was not always the best leader that I could've been, these early callings helped me learn of how I can help people and helped me learn to love helping all people, whenever I see an opportunity. I've served in many callings but they have all taught me to find my part and do everything I can to benefit not just myself, but every individual that I can reach.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

The way that we can increase our faith is by using it. It is like a muscle, when we excercise it, it is stregnthened and can even be used to help others who are struggling when our faith is sufficiently strong. Many people start out their faith by leaning on the faith of others, but we need to stregnthen our own faith so that we can have not only the strength to support ourselves in times of trials, but the stregnth to help and lift others when they need it. But don't get me wrong, it is not our own stregnth that is holding us up through these trials, through our faith in Him, we have access to the power of Jesus Christ, our Savior, and we can do all things. If we start to put trust in Him, He will never let us down. I know that from experience in my life because whenever I let the Lord guide me, I am always led to where I am needed and where I can become the best person that I want to be. As we trust in Jesus Christ more and more, we can feel his grace lift us, and our faith will continue to grow exponentially. When we have faith that He will help, we will never be alone, because He will always be with us. And to increase this faith, we just need to start by putting trust in Him, and obeying His commandments. Show more Show less
