Hi I'm Maren

I am a ballet dancer going to college to study Radiology and Neurology and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student studying Radiology. I am going to school with the plan to become a doctor. Outside of school I am a dancer. My favorite styles so far are Ballet and Irish. I love learning about anything related to science, mathematics, and my religion. I love to read books and shoot my bow. I also enjoy playing the piano and flute from time to time.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a Mormon, although that isn't why I have continued to be a Mormon. This gospel has brought me so much peace and healing. It also answers many of the questions that I have had through out my life. I love the teachings that families are forever, and that there is life after death. I love knowing that I have a Heavenly Father who watches over me. He sends me trials to strengthen me and my faith, but He never leaves me to handle my trials alone. He loves me and every person I meet. He has given me this life to learn and prepare to see Him again. It gives me comfort to know that He is in charge. By knowing that He is in charge I know that everything happens for a reason, and that if I put my faith in Him, and follow His commandments I can overcome anything. All of these things help me go through life. They bring me strength and comfort. They bring me courage. Knowing that I can ask for direction and help from my Heavenly Father allows me to make life changing decisions with more confidence. I wouldn't be who I am without my testimony of this church. It has definitely made me a stronger and better person.

How I live my faith

Right now I am a visiting teacher. In the past though I have taught young children ages four and five. I have recently been called to serve as a missionary in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

In whom should we have faith?

We should have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. This is more than just a belief that He exists. It is trusting in Him and His atonement, and being willing to act upon that belief. We should also have faith in God. We should trust Him, have confidence in Him, and be willing to act upon what we believe. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Serving a mission is an opportunity given to members of the church. We are allowed to serve around the age of 18 and 19 or as a retired senior. Both men and women are allowed to serve. It is not required, however, it is recommended that we consider and pray about whether or not we should serve a mission. It is requested that men prepare to serve a mission when they turn 18. It is a privilege for us to serve missions. It allows us to share our love for other people and the Lord. Show more Show less

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Mormon missionaries are funded by the missionaries themselves and their family. Most missionaries save up their money as they are preparing to serve a mission. What the missionary doesn't pay for is paid for by their family. In some cases other members in the ward will also help contribute to the missionaries fund. The members that contribute do so because they choose to. They are not required to contribute. Show more Show less
