Hi I'm Liz

I have a teaching degree and have taught history, English and Spanish in California and Arizona. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I served a mission in Uruguay when I was young and fell in love with the Spanish language. So I studied history, Spanish and English in college and got a teaching degree. I married, became a mother and then my husband started a business, so I went back to teaching to help the family finances. It was supposed to be for five years, until the business could stand on its own. Unfortunately, farming in California wasn't stable and so I continued to teach. Later, my husband became ill and I quit to care for him. After he passed away, I decided to do something different. I became a receptionist at a legal office. When I retired this time, I decided to serve a mission. I love the Lord, Jesus Christ and want to share his teachings with others.

Why I am a Mormon

As a child, my father was not a member of the Church. He said I used to come home on Sundays and tell him all I had learned. He called me his "missionary". I love my father and was so happy when he decided to be baptized just before I was eight. A few months later, he baptized me. My father read the Book of Mormon and knew it was true. He said since the Book of Mormon was the word of God, then Joseph Smith had to be a prophet. When he said that, the Spirit testified to me that what my father said was true. I also read the Book of Mormon and know it to be from God and that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. I also know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and that because of his atonement, I can live with my Father in Heaven and my own family again.

How I live my faith

I have served in the Church in women's organizations, scouting, before-school religious study, and with the young women and children. My favorite place to serve is with the children where I have led the music and taught classes. Being with the children helps me stay young as they are full of energy and ask intriguing questions.
