Hi I'm Grant Palacio

I was born and raised in Miami, Florida. I love to play basketball. I am super excited to go on a mission to the Philippines.

About Me

Throughout high school I participated in junior varsity and varsity basketball. Basketball is my favorite hobby and I played everyday. It is my true passion and is what I watch and play during my free time. Another one of my favorite hobbies is cycling. My cousin is a professional cyclist and he gave me one of his old bikes. With this bike,I have ridden thousands of miles and with various groups. While there is a lot of traffic in Miami, my favorite place to ride is in Key Biscayne. Before leaving on my mission to the Philippines I went to college for one semester. I attended FIU and had a fun time for my one semester. While there, I played a lot of basketball and studied very hard for my calculus class.

Why I am a Mormon

While I have grown up my whole life a Mormon, I have gone through my own conversion story and this is the reason I want to go on a mission. In my early teenage years, I would normally just go to church because my mom asked me. However, when the temple was built in our area things began to change. A group of missionaries came over to my house and their testimony along with the feeling I got when going to the temple converted me to being a dedicated member. I then began to follow his gospel because I could not deny how true it was and the goodness it brought. I saw good friends and family get arrested and do things and get put in situations that i would never have to worry about thanks to commandments from the church. The church has helped me keep a model of purity and has made me standout from my peers.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith to the best of my ability. To me, living my faith goes beyond and callings I may have in my church but extends to how i conduct myself. How i acted in a school where I was the only member was a big example of how I lived my faith. All my friends knew that i would not curse or participate in other wordly things. They knew i did not attend parties and knew of the word of wisdom from the way i acted. I also went hometeaching often with my hometeaching companion. One of our families was going through a hard time with their health, and my companion and I would help them out very often. We would take them the sacrament and would help them do any yard work that they were not able too.
