Hi I'm Jose E.

I grew up in Dallas TX. I enjoy being in & admiring nature. I like building things. Serving a mission in Fresno CA. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Mexico and my parents decided to move to the US to give us a better life when I was nearly eight years old. My family and I were introduced to the church several months later. (We were practicing Catholic) My parents and I were baptized together. About a year later, my dad had the opportunity to baptize my younger sister. About a year after our baptism, our family were blessed to be sealed in the temple. My youngest brother was born in the church about 9 years after that. I love the outdoors and nature in general. Ever since I was a kid I've liked to catch small animals and insects and building habitats, aquariums and terrariums for them. I really enjoyed Scouting growing up. I especially loved summer camp and high adventure trips. I like building things with my hands and the satisfaction that comes when you get to see the final product of your labors.

Why I am a Mormon

I feel really blessed to have the church in my life. It has given me friendships, wonderful experiences and opportunities to grow and to learn to want to serve others. Most importantly, it has given me direction and has taught me that God has a plan for all of us. He wants us to be happy. I've learned that we have unlimited potential and can achieve great things as we strive to keep His commandments which he has provided to guide us through this mortal existence.

How I live my faith

I have had the great opportunity to serve in several church callings. Callings that sometimes seemed unfit for me, but I later learned to appreciate. I have learned that callings are inspired of God and will help us grow and strengthen our testimony and we make an effort to magnify them. One of my most recent church callings was being in the young men's presidency. This calling has helped me to grow spiritually and has really helped me to get out of my shell and learn to be a more effective leader. At the time I'm writing this, I am ten days away from serving a full-time mission in Fresno California. I am both nervous and excited to go serve the Lord. I know that it will be hard but, I also know that God has many blessing in store for me and will watch over my family while I am gone.
