Hi I'm Jared

I'm a proud Oregonian, a musician and an aspiring father; indeed I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love many things, all from piano concertos to basketball to tearin' up the sand at the dunes. Aside from all family and gospel aspects, music is my life and my direction. I feel music everywhere in my life, and express it in as many way as I can, though I feel I can express the true passion of music through piano; yet there remains something incredibly special about collectively expressing the passion of music in a Wind Symphony, with my dear tenor saxophone. I am studying music, psychology, business and optometry at school, marking a beautiful chapter in my life. However, I, am putting this on hold to serve a mission to serve the Lord and His people in Botswana and Namibia come the end of June. I am simply thrilled, as I have been waiting for this time to serve since my days as a wee one. Life, in all of it's many aspects, simply is wonderful.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church to a simply wonderful loving and supporting family, who was very active in the church and various church programs. Thus, from a very young age, I have been taught the basic principles of the gospel and how to live them, both by vocal instruction and supreme example. I was constantly told that the concepts that I was learning (mainly that we were God's children, He loves us, and the Book of Mormon is true) was correct and right, yet, like many in my position, I had never had a miraculous experience for myself, which testified of such things. However, a wise and humble man told me that many times, a testimony grows like the dew on the mountain. No one can pin-point when the dew springs up, and all of a sudden it is there and very relevant and real. This is exactly how it happened before; I cannot point to one event and say "this is what made my testimony", rather, I look back at a life full of little spiritual promptings comfortings, and testifications, and realize that my life is a miraculous experience testifying of the gospel. I cannot deny the validity of the gospel, nor any of its aspects

How I live my faith

In my ward, I find much joy in serving as the Sunday School President and a home teacher. I value the opportunity to serve God's church in any way I can, including an individual progression. I constantly strive to say, do and think what is the best for me, my peers and God; I am not going to deny that this is an easy process. It is not whatsoever. It is constituted of mistakes and learning, mistakes and learning, mistakes and learning. Yet, I take comfort in that this is what God intended His children to do, and that I CAN learn, and that I CAN grow. Life is for learning, and doing such through the teachings of the gospel is how I live my faith.
