Hi I'm Nate

I grew up in Utah. I am a musician. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a musician. I grew up playing the drums and piano. I have been performing music since I was about eight years old. I participated in various ensembles throughout high school including All-State Jazz Band and All-State Orchestra. I have even shared the stage with Grammy Award-winning artists and other successful musicians such as Randy Brecker and Keith Carlock. I studied music in college for two years and have toured with different groups all around the world. I have performed in England, France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Mongolia, South Korea, and Japan. I enjoy composing music and creating new ideas. It excites me to be able to add something new to this world. Some of my other favorite activities include spending time with my family, watching movies, playing basketball and being a spectator for college football and basketball. I am currently serving a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I love being able to help my brothers and sisters live Christ-centered lives.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a family that was active in the Church. I have always had an influence from the Church and grew up attending every week. The Church has blessed my life by allowing me to draw closer to my Savior, Jesus Christ. I am thankful for the opportunity to participate in the Church and I do not know where I would be without it. As I have grown stronger in the gospel, I have been able to feel of God's love towards me. I know that He loves each of us and that He is willing to work with us if we will come unto Him. I am also so thankful for His word, the scriptures. I have often found peace and direction as I have searched through the writings of the Prophets. I know that the Book of Mormon can bless anyone's life. I also know that prayer can bless our lives. God is willing to answer our prayers. We just need to be willing to listen. I know that when I have humbly follow God's guidance in my life, I have been greatly blessed.

How I live my faith

Before serving a mission I was serving as a pianist for my ward. I enjoy the hymns and feeling the wonderful Spirit that they can bring into our hearts. I also was able to interact with different people within my area as a home teacher. I loved being able to attend activities that the Church in my area provided when possible as well. While on my mission, I strive to live a fulfilling life. I try to keep God's commandments and encourage others to do so as well. I serve other people whether I am helping put up a fence or playing bingo at a nursing home. I find great fulfillment in using my time to bless others.

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Nate
As I have encountered people of various faiths throughout my life, many of us are striving to fulfill the same goal: to return to live with God. Authority to baptize is important because when we are baptized we perform sacred covenants with God. We promise that we will follow Him and strive to remember Him throughout each day for the remainder of our days in this life. The authority to perform such an act must be authority received from the very Being with Whom we are covenanting. The prophet Joseph Smith did indeed receive that authority from angelic beings including John the Baptist. The blessings that come from authority are significant. I myself, know that the authority to baptize has been restored by a loving Savior through angels that visited Joseph Smith in 1829. As I have learned about covenants, I have further understood their importance. I know that through act such as baptism, we can return to live with a loving Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ.
