Hi I'm Vanessa Laughbon

I grew up in Utah, and I like making clothes. I hope to one day make clothes for orphans and starving countries, I am a mormon!

About Me

Hello, My name is Vanessa. I was born and raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints, and I am proud to say I am a Mormon. I have been blessed to have this church apart of my life, it has influenced everything I do and own, my Family, my jobs, my schooling, my moral, and all other life changing choices. Even though I was born into the church I still had to decide for myself that it was the church for me. I came to know by reading and praying about the book of Mormon. I am currently serving a mission for my religion in Washington DC south mission, and am spreading the good word of Christ. The most important thing about my religion to me is that I can live with my family forever! Its not just this earthly existence that I get to enjoy their company, but through all eternity! I love my family, I was born into a family of 7 people, mom and dad, two sisters and two brothers. Life wouldn't be the same with out them and it is so important that they stay with me. The LDS church has proven that possible!

Why I am a Mormon

Well initially I am Mormon because I was born one. My parents raised me in the church with all the values of a Latter Day Saint. People tell me all the time that because I was born into the church that its different for me. That I was raised this way. Its true, I was raised with all these believes, but not everyone raised with these beliefs stays Mormon forever. I am a Mormon, not just because my parents are Mormon, but because I asked God if this is what he truly wants for me. He told me yes, through the witness of the Holy Ghost.I know that by this answer there is no better way to live. Being a Mormon has taught me how to put my own life in the hands of God and watch Him make something great out of it. It has influenced everything I am, everything I do, and everyone I talk to. How I came to talk to God about being a Mormon was through prayer and scripture study in the book of Mormon and the Holy bible. Both books belong together. I know that anyone can come to know for themselves, by the same steps that I took, that is Scripture Study, and Prayer. If we want to talk to God we get down and pray, if we want God to talk to us, We open the scriptures.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending all of my Sunday meetings and reading and praying daily. My most recent call in my home ward was in the Nursery with all the little kids. I now serve as a missionary for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints! I cam to the decision to serve a mission through the influence of friends family and various programs in the church. One of which was the Young Women's program. When I was in the Young Women's program I completed my personal progress steps, (which is a program designed for the young ladies ages 12-18 to help them learn life skills and Christlike attributes and teaches them how to read and bear testimony of the scriptures.) I did a lot of service and built my testimony in the Young Women's program also. I love helping others, as the Lord teaches, "If you do it unto the least of these, you have done it unto me." I know that serving my brothers and sisters here on earth is just as important as going to church, or reading my scriptures or praying to God. Because it is telling God that I do care, about my life and theirs, as much as He cares about mine.

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

Vanessa Laughbon
"We believe in God the Father, and in his son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost." first article of Faith. The Holy Ghost is apart of the God Head, he is a special member because unlike God the Father or Jesus Christ he has not received a body. It is his Job as a member of the God Head to help testify that the gospel is true and that Jesus Christ still lives. He does this through Personal Revelation. He enters ones mind or heart and testifies through knowledge, and feelings that the gospel is true. (2 Nephi 26:13 Pg. 101-102 in the Book of Mormon) "And that he manifesteth himself unto all those who believe in him, by the power of the Holy Ghost; yea, unto every nation, kindred, tongue, and people, working mighty miracles, signs, and wonders, among the children of men according to their faith." The Holy Ghosts role is to bear testimony of the Father and the Son. Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Vanessa Laughbon
As a Missionary myself, I can tell you that we proselyte because we love the gospel which we belong to. We have experienced for ourselves a divine witness through the Holy Ghost that is true and our lives have been changed by it for the better and we have come to God. We proselyte because we want others to experience the same witness that we did. We want them to live a happier and more fulfilling life! Show more Show less
