Hi I'm Star Smith

I grew up in a small town with beautiful scenery in southern Alberta Canada. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a tom boy through and through. I love the outdoors! I grew up moving cows and playing with the horses - riding bareback is the best I think! I grew up outside of a small town of about 200 people. I love music, especially the piano, trumpet, and singing along with my brothers and sister in the car. I have been in track and field, playing with the guys on the court or field of every sport and just loving life with the mountains. I am always up for an adventure. Horses, working hard (especially outside), baseball and archery are some of my favorite things to do. I hike with my family all the time during the summers when I'm not working. I have 3 siblings. My older brother is serving in the Colorado, Colorado Springs Mission and gets home in September 2016. I leave May 4, 2016 to the New Zealand Hamilton Mission! In addition I will be serving in the New Zealand Temple Visitor's Center. I have waited my entire life to serve my mission and I am beyond excited to serve the Lord and His people in New Zealand! I absolutely love my family and the Lord and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They make my life!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, but I have actually thought about what would've happened if I wasn't. What would've happened if I met with the missionaries and got baptized? Would I have? I know I would. I know I would've wanted to become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from the beginning. It was for me. It's for everyone! I love God so much. He has given me way more than I even closely deserve, but He has died for me. He lived again. He conquered death for me, so I can go back to Heaven to live with Him. I love Him so much! The reason that I have for going on a mission is 1. I have wanted to for my entire life. And now that it's here, I have practically no fear because I know that Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ will be there watching over me. I know that I am called to bring souls unto Christ. My favorite scripture is in the Book of Mormon. It's Ether 12:27 which says "And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble. And my grace is sufficient for all men that come unto me, for if they come unto me and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them." I know that whatever I got through, the Lord will be there for me and help me through it, if it's through prayer or people around me, He will and I know it. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ is the true church on this earth. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the true ordained Prophet on this earth today, and I know that Joseph Smith restored the gospel and brought it and the beautiful blessing of the priesthood back on the earth. I know that Jesus Christ loves me and you and everyone equally here on this earth from all generations of time. And I know that I am a Child of God. A Daughter of God. I know it, I live it, I love it.

How I live my faith

I love reading the Book of Mormon and learning more and more and reading the stories that are in there, and learning how to apply them in my life. If you haven't read it I sincerely suggest that you do. So many blessings and so much knowledge come from that small sacrifice of reading the Book of Mormon for 5 minutes a day. Preparing for my mission has been an amazing blessing because it has made me love the gospel and the Lord even more than I did before.
