Hi I'm Jacob Andros

I grew up in Holden, Massachusetts. I'm the oldest of seven children in my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a student at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and I'm majoring in applied mathematics. I love watching my hometown sports teams, the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I also enjoy warm weather, being active outdoors, and U.S. history. I'm serving a full-time mission for the LDS Church in Yerevan, Armenia.

Why I am a Mormon

Having been born into a family that was active in the church, I never really questioned my beliefs much as a kid. Once I became a teenager, I realized that I needed to gain an individual understanding and testimony of the gospel in order to live it to the best of my ability and attain the blessings it has to offer. There was no singular experience or sudden tipping point for me that caused me to gain this testimony. However, I can say that the anchor of my testimony is, has always been, and always will be the Book of Mormon. I read from that book every day from the time I was eight years old and now I can say without question that that book is true to every word. Again, I didn't realize that in one sudden, overwhelming spiritual experience, but I came to realize it by actively studying and pondering its message consistently. Knowing that the Book of Mormon is true has helped me gain a testimony that Joseph Smith translated it through divine power and is a prophet of God. It has helped confirm for me the revelations given by our modern day prophets and has brought me to know that the church is true with all of my heart, might, mind, and strength. In addition to my knowledge of the truthfulness of the gospel, the church has standards that we live by that help me become a better person. When I see the amazing people that are part of this church, it makes me want to be more like them. And the best way to do that is to follow the guidelines set forth by the Lord and His servants. The commandments really are a road map to becoming who I want to be and I want to do my best to follow them because of that.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith by doing what I know to be right even when it is difficult to do so. This, in addition to daily scripture study and prayer, gives me the faith strength to be an example to others. I am seeking to become more active in not just living, but also sharing the hopeful message of the gospel of Jesus Christ by serving a two-year, full-time mission.
