Hi I'm Jake

I'm a farm boy from Idaho. I speak three languages and travel the world, and I'm a mormon.

About Me

I've been a member my whole life, growing up on a small farm and working every day to maintain it until I decided to go out and see the world. I've lived on three continents and traveled to Chile, France, Austria, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and China. I speak English, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese. I love reading and learning new things. I'm currently studying neuroscience and hope to one day alleviate or cure neurological diseases.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized when I was eight, but why I am a Mormon came to me during the time I was living in China. I have always been surrounded by people that live and follow the same standards and guidelines as I do until I went to go live in China. I went alone, and while I was there I found that there was nothing stopping me from not living according to what the church teaches (not drinking or smoking, keeping the Sabbath day holy, not having sex before marriage, etc.). Truly I had plenty of opportunity not to live like I had always had, but I found that I had to make a decision apart from anyone else about how I wanted to live. Through much contemplation and pondering I decided that my actions weren't going to be determined by my surroundings. I decided for myself that living the gospel of Jesus Christ was the course I wanted to take. Having made and followed that decision, my life has become much better. I know for myself that living by the teachings of Jesus Christ and His church is what brings lasting happiness.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to live a decent life. Being honest in my dealings with people and helping anyone I can. I have a knack for chemistry and the sciences, and lots of people have trouble with this subjects. So I try to live my religion by tutoring others with what can many times be very frustrating subjects. I also live my faith by fulfilling my responsibilities in the church. I'm what's called a sunday school president. I organize an education hour that goes on during our worship services.
