Hi I'm Evie

I'm a book worm, a full time missionary and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Reading and hiking are my favorite pastimes. I was a cheerleader freshman through senior year of High School, I attended Utah State for a year but am currently serving a full-time Mission in Tampa, Florida.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this is the true church of Jesus Christ. When I was 12 years old, one of my church leaders challenged the youth to memorize a document called "The Living Christ." It's a small and short witness of the life that Jesus Christ lived and why he is so important. While memorizing it, I was also reading the Book of Mormon, the keystone to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It was amazing how much they connected and how the teachings in one were parallel to the other. When I finally finished reading the Book of Mormon for the first time by myself, I took the challenge from Moroni at the end of the book and prayed about it. Growing up in the church, I never really doubted the teachings, but taking the steps to find out for myself, and truly have a desire to know if it was true, made all the difference in why I went to church and why I lived the Gospel. The Gospel of Jesus Christ makes me so happy. I truly can't imagine my life without it. There are things in the world that can provide temporary happiness, but nothing that the world could provide could make me happy forever like the Gospel has. I know without a doubt, that this is the restored Gospel on the earth and that it is true. Nobody could tell me otherwise, and I am forever indebted to my Heavenly Father for giving me that happiness.

How I live my faith

I participate in service activities as often as I can. Service is one of my favorite ways to come closer to the spirit. I often visit other sister's in my ward alongside my Visiting Teaching companion. It builds unity and trust in the ward and is a great way to get to know others and make friends. Another great way to do so is how I and hundreds of others are doing it all over the world, by sharing the gospel with others!

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Mormons do believe the Bible and reference and study it frequently! It's important to us to know the teachings in the Bible as well as the Book of Mormon, which is another Testament of Jesus Christ. Though the Book of Mormon is what sets us apart from other religions, the Book of Mormon is just an addition to the Bible, not a replacement! Show more Show less
