Hi I'm Shaughn

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I love the Gospel. I will soon be serving a full time mission.

About Me

Soccer and gymnastics are my two favorite sports. I competed in gymnastics for two years and I am now a gymnastics coach. I didn't get very far in soccer, but I still love playing every chance I get. I have played the piano since I was four years old. Last year I was called as the ward organist, so one of my church leaders taught me how to play the organ. I went to college for one semester, but I am now in preparations to serve a full-time mission. My family has done foster care for many years, so I have a lot of brothers and sisters. My favorite times are the times I get to spend with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am a Mormon because I know the church is true. I can't think of a time when I didn't believe the church was true, but my testimony has been incredibly strengthened in my teenage years. I know the Gospel is true with all my heart. I have a testimony that Jesus Christ lives. He performed the Atonement in its fullness and because of that we can return to live with Heavenly Father. I have a testimony of prophets and revelation. I know that Joseph Smith restored the Gospel. I know that he restored the Priesthood. I know that Thomas S Monson is a true prophet and he has received the Priesthood keys through a direct line from Joseph Smith, who received them through a direct line from Jesus Christ Himself. I have a testimony of prayer. I know that through prayer and faith that you too can receive the testimony that I have received. The Book of Mormon is true. The true church of the living God is once again upon the Earth. I know these things are true because the Holy Ghost has shown me that they are true.

How I live my faith

Most of my callings in church have been for the piano or organ. I have played the piano for choir accompaniment as well as for meetings. One of the biggest ways I love to serve is through teaching. I try to bare my testimony every chance I get. If there is ever an opening to teach a lesson in church, I am always willing to help. I also live my faith outside of church. I volunteered as a gymnastics coach until I was hired as an employee. I volunteer my time as a math tutor to anyone who needs help. I think my biggest strength in the Gospel is pondering though. I think about Gospel principles as much as I can. I try to apply the Gospel to my personal circumstances as well as trying to help others. I am not very good at talking with strangers, particularly the elderly. I believe it is because I have a hard time connecting and I don't know what most people like to talk about. I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ can help me with my weaknesses though. Soon I will be serving a full-time mission and I know I will be talking with a lot of people. I will have to leave my comfort zone, but I look forward to being transformed into the missionary that God wants me to be.
