Hi I'm Sara

I'm a writer, a student, an explorer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to think of myself as a polymath. I'm always eager to learn and try new things, as many things as I can. But my biggest passion is people. They never fail to make things more interesting, more meaningful.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as an LDS member, but was mostly just going along with everything until I was fourteen. Then when I was at Girls Camp, everyone was sharing their testimonies on the last night, a tradition. I had always believed this church was true, but that day I decided I wanted to know from experience. After that I started trying to learn and live the Gospel for myself. And it was great timing, because I had some really big trials in my near future. Applying the teachings of the Gospel not only got me through them in one piece, but helped me to become better through them. Today, I can say that while I'm excited for what my future holds, I'm also happy to be who I am right now, doing what I'm doing, even with the ever-present trials and mistakes. Christ has undeniably been guiding me to where I am today, and that's why I'm thrilled to say I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I currently serve as an activity leader for the eight- to eleven-year-old girls in my ward. We have lots of fun and I love them a lot! I've also recently been called to serve a mission in Illinois! I miss my Activity Day girls already, but I'm excited to love and serve the people in Illinois as well.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

God wants us to be physically strong and healthy because it helps us to be happier and make the most of this life. While illness and injury are sometimes important experiences for our personal growth, He doesn't want us to hurt unnecessarily. So when Joseph Smith inquired the Lord about His stand on tobacco, the Lord didn't just answer his question, but provided a basic set of principles regarding physical health to guide us in taking care of our bodies. We call this set of principles the Word of Wisdom, and it can be found in the Doctrine and Covenants, chapter 89. Show more Show less
