Hi I'm Kalene

I grew up in Idaho and now live in Riverton, Utah. I love to travel and be with my family, preferably, both. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, daughter. etc. I work at an elementary school and could write a book about all the crazy things that go on in our main office. My family and church are my most precious gifts. I love to watch college basketball and football, travel, decorate cakes, cook ethnic foods, watch live theater, participate in choirs, and spend time with my family. I especially love hanging with my grandkids, they are the best! I have a bachelor's degree in Spanish, which has come in handy many times. My bucket list of places to go is so long, it won't fit in this space. Bonus, I am married to a saint!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was born into a strong Mormon family. If you look at my family tree, you will see 8 generations of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints. Although, being a Mormon is a multi-generational thing in my family, I didn't just go along with the flow and accept my membership as a given. At a pretty young age, I seriously questioned if this really were the only true and living church on the earth. I had friends who weren't members who seemed very similar to me in their love of family, there standards of dress, the language they used and their devotion to their faith. So it was important for me to know for myself. I spent much time pondering, praying, and eventually decided that I needed an answer from God. After months of considering this question, I finally put it to the test and said a fervent and heartfelt prayer to know if the church was true. I remember waiting for an answer as I waited for the sun to rise over a nearby mountain peak. As the sun crested the mountain and its warmth spread to my location, I was filled with a feeling of immense love, inner warmth and comfort that I knew could only come from my Father in Heaven. I knew he loved me and all of the things I had been taught throughout my life were true. I have had a number of similar experiences throughout my life that have confirmed again and again, that I have a Father in Heaven who loves me, as well as testifying to me that the gospel of Jesus Christ as taught in the Mormon church is true. I know with all of my heart and soul that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer, and the family is of God. The spirit of God has given me this witness by way of the Holy Ghost teaching and testifying to me personally.

How I live my faith

I actively participate in my church. I have served in many different areas and with many different people. Sometimes the responsibilities I've had have been pretty easy and other times they have required much time, energy, and sacrifice. I currently work with the youth in our neighborhood and love them dearly. I have always been a "goody, goody" and that has kept me out of trouble and saved me much sorrow and heartache, as I look back over my life. It is hard to say which has taken up more time in my life, my family or my faith. I believe that prayers are answered and inspiration is given when needed. I also believe that we are God's hands on the earth and we are here to help each other along the paths of this life. I try to be a peacemaker. I am pretty normal and make lots of mistakes as I go through my days. My goals are to continually try to be a better person, to learn all that I can, and to care for my family.
