Hi I'm Jonny

I'm from Seattle, Washington. I love music, physics, and running. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student majoring in Physics. I hope to get my doctorate in education so I can improve science curriculum across the country. The thing that got me into physics was actually music. I love music. It really interests me how music and physics relate, which is why I started studying physics. So, like I said, I am also a musician. I write my own music, have played in several bands, currently play in a few bands, and love listening music whenever I can. I have a growing collection of vinyl, tapes, and CDs that I have collected over the years, which I love to listen to and appreciate the artwork included with the albums. Another one of my hobbies is running, I ran cross country in high school and went to state with my team during my senior season. I have since run two marathons and try to run as often as I can. I have 5 siblings and I love all of them so much. I am currently working towards serving a mission for my church and hope to do so soon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the strength and knowledge that comes from following the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have felt weak beyond belief, and been able to find strength only in my Lord and Savior. I know that when I follow Christ's example and commandments, pray to my Heavenly Father, and study my scriptures, I feel stronger and more able to conquer the challenges that arise in my life. I am a Mormon because I know that my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ care about the little things. They care about what I am going through each and every day and are always there to help me, no matter what. I am a Mormon because there is an omnipotent being who created everything that we know and more, who has the power to do unimaginable things, who still plays an active part in our every day lives, and who wouldn't want Him on their side?

How I live my faith

I am called as a Sunday School teacher for my church, so I teach other students my age short lessons every other Sunday. I also try to stay an active member of my church by going to activities and interacting with other people in my church. Growing up I was one of a very few Mormons in the area. To some this may seem difficult, and it often was, but I saw it as a great opportunity to share with my friends and neighbors why I lived the way that I did. I answered a lot of questions about different misconceptions about the church and always tried to share with the person asking the questions why I believe the way that I do. This lead to a lot of interesting conversations and interactions with people, all of which I can now look back on and recount as positive experiences. One of these interactions in particular lead to me baptizing one of my very best friends, which was truly a spectacular experience. She is now also working towards a mission and we have stayed the best of friends.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No, Mormons do not worship Joseph Smith. We believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet, similar to Moses, Noah, Abraham, and countless other prophets spoken of in the Bible. We see Joseph Smith similarly to how a lot of other Christians see those Biblical prophets, he was God's mouthpiece during the time that he was alive, helping to ensure that God's will be done on earth, using the special authority that was given to him by God. Like these other prophets, Joseph Smith never sought himself to be worshipped, but rather enhanced other's worship of God. Show more Show less
