Hi I'm Kyungju Roh

I grew up in Seoul, South Korea. I am a student at Brigham Young University. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I just turned 20 like two months ago. I was born and grew up in Korea. I came to the United States about 15 months ago. I love babies and dogs. I love teaching those little ones! I am a Teaching Assistant for Korean class at Brigham Young University. I love playing games both indoor and outdoor (even though I am usually not good at it!) I love talking to people and making friends. I am the youngest of two kids in my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I decided to become a Mormon when I was turning 16. My sister who got to know about the church from her exchange student program brought me to the church. She was sent to a Mormon family who lives in Utah. She went to church with them every Sunday. After she came back, she decided to get baptized. About a year later, she brought me to the church. The missionaries asked me if they could teach me about the gospel. I did not even know what was going on. All these white people speaking in Korean were pretty cool, so I decided to listen. They gave me the Book of Mormon and asked me to read and pray about it. I used to be a Christian of other churches. I already had belief in God, but was always going to many different churches because I always had something that could not be answered in my heart. As I read, pondered, and prayed about the Book of Mormon, I felt burning in my heart that I could not deny. Yes, it was not like that from the first moment. The discussions with the missionaries were sometimes boring, and I sometimes fell asleep. However, it did make a huge change in my life in a good way. By seeing how the gospel has impacted my life and brought me such big happiness, I am convinced that the Gospel is true everyday of my life. I am a Mormon because I believe in God and Jesus Christ. I know that God loves me and His all other children. I found my purposes in this life through learning the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because Christ's Gospel enlightens my life and makes me a better person.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be serving, loving, and honest with others around me and with myself. I strive to live righteously by making right choices. I go to the church every Sunday and participate well in all the meetings. I used to be a youth leader at church which gave me lots of opportunities to serve others and learn from them. I try to make choices that Christ would make to become like Him. I read scriptures to learn about my purposes in this life. I live my faith by having positive thoughts and energy. I live my faith by trying to become good examples to others like Christ did to us.
