Hi I'm Garrett

I'm Colorado born, but Texas raised! I'm a musician, an outdoors enthusiast, and a photographer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm attending college right now as a freshman. I love it up here! It is great for my hobbies, which include hiking, camping, rock climbing, taking pictures of the outdoors, and exploring cool new places! I also like to cook and play music with my friends along with watching movies. I'm also preparing right now to serve a full time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of a few reasons. I was raised Mormon in the LDS faith, so I always was taught about the principles and beliefs and to have a love for Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ. I am STILL Mormon because during my rebellious teenage years I did some searching and had to really figure out for myself, is all of this important? Do I really mean anything to a creator of everything? Is any of this stuff real? I figured it out through prayer and scripture study and attending church. I acquired my own testimony and know this gospel is true with all of my heart. I love being a part of the Mormon Faith and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know Heavenly Father loves me and knows me personally!

How I live my faith

I am an instructor for the men in my local ward, which basically means I teach the guys older than eighteen of my congregation the weekly lesson sometimes! It's a Sunday school class for the older guys and I love being able to teach because I feel that I learn so much more from teaching than I do from just listening sometimes. I like to participate in my monthly hometeaching. I go to various families houses from the congregation that I am assigned to and just check up on them and give a quick spiritual thought. It is really enjoyable and helps with the relationships we all have with each other. I try to be there for the families whenever they need an extra hand or maybe some outside advice on their decisions and life events. I try to be active in my community and my congregation as needed. I love to volunteer and live a Christlike life by showing love to everybody and being the best me that I can be!

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

I think that people who are curious about the Mormon faith have a lot of options for finding answers. If you want to specifically talk to a person, most members are always willing to answer questions along with the local LDS Missionaries! If you don't know any members or how to contact the local missionaries, the church website has a number you can call to arrange a visit! 1-888-537-6600 Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Mormon Missionaries proselyte because Christ commanded us to go out and teach all nations the gospel in The Book of Matthew in the New Testament. All Mormon Missionaries are volunteers that go out by their own freewill to preach and share their feelings about the gospel and the happiness it brings to its members! We do everything we can as missionaries to seek people who are interested or may be interested in learning more about Jesus Christ and God's plan for their happiness. Missionaries in the Mormon faith go for durations of eighteen months to two years, it is a bit longer than your average mission trip you hear about most people going on! But the purpose is similar to that of other Christian denominations. We just try to give service and share our love for Jesus Christ! Show more Show less
