Hi I'm Madeleine Shelton

I love to bake and play music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest of 5 children. I moved around a lot when I was growing up, but I have spent most of my life in Texas, so I'll always be a Texan at heart. Music is a huge part of who I am. I love to play the piano as well as the flute. I also love to bake and to cook, especially for other people. I'm currently attending college in Utah, hoping to get a bachelor's in Business Management. My biggest dream is to become a pastry chef and own my own bakery.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are members of the Church and have taught me the gospel my whole entire life. I chose to be baptized when I was 8 years old. At such a young age, I knew that I wanted to be obedient and be baptized, but I didn't necessarily understand the scope of my decision. Since then, I have had many experiences that have helped me receive further knowledge of and faith in Jesus Christ, Joseph Smith, and the Book of Mormon. I had the opportunity to go to Palmyra, New York where Joseph Smith first saw Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. As I sat there, an overwhelming sense of peace, love, and gratitude came upon me. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet and that he restored the Lord's Church on the Earth and translated the Book of Mormon through the power of God. I know that Jesus is the Christ and that through His suffering, death and Resurrection, I can find peace, forgiveness, and strength. I know that God has a plan for me. Today, I am so grateful that I took that step and was baptized so that I could be forgiven of my sins.

How I live my faith

One thing that I have always admired about the Savior is His ability to serve in a humble, simple, and quiet manner. I have tried to emulate that in my service of those around me. Within the Church, I have had the opportunity to serve as an organist in our congregation, among the youth, and now as a leader in my family group. I have come to learn that when we strive to serve those around us without searching for recognition, we come to know Jesus Christ, God, and those we serve better.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Madeleine Shelton
I look outside at nature and I can see the tender, loving care of our Heavenly Father in the flowers. When I reflect upon my day, I often am able to recognize His hand in my life. For example, there have been many times that I have studied really hard for a test, but still felt really nervous and anxious. As I have relied on Him, He has helped me to remember things that I have studied and to do well on my tests. Often, He is present in the day-to-day, quiet moments our lives. As we earnestly seek Him, we can find Him. Show more Show less
