Hi I'm Emily Clegg

I am currently a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located in the Korea, Daejeon mission.

About Me

I am a student at Brigham Young University and plan to graduate with a degree in Nutrition. I love running, hot yoga, eating chocolate ice cream, drinking strawberry banana smoothies on the beach and spending time with friends and family. I am the middle child in my family of 7. I have two amazing parents, with 2 older sisters and 2 younger brothers. I love and miss them very much. As a family, we love to travel. We have been to over 30 different countries and look forward to visiting more in the years to come.

Why I am a Mormon

At the start of high school, I decided that I was going to read the Book of Mormon on my own for the first time. It was a daunting task, given that it was 531 pages long. But soon after I made a habit of reading it daily, I noticed a change in myself. It was subtle, but definitely there. My life became more full and I had a purpose. I found the more I studied the Book of Mormon, the happier I was. I started to apply the teachings taught in the Book of Mormon and I noticed an added measure of strength in my daily life. The words of the prophets in the Book of Mormon bore witness to me and their teachings helped me grow my own testimony. Once I had finished reading all 531 pages, I took the challenge Moroni gave in Moroni 7 to ask God if the Book of Mormon was true. I was expecting an overwhelming feeling of the spirit confirming my questions. This was not the case though. I simply felt peace. Which at first, left me feeling confused. But then I realized that God had bore testimony to me of the truthfulness of the book the entire time I was reading it. I didn't need to have a big experience, because I already knew it was true. My testimony of the Book of Mormon had been growing ever since I started reading it. And it continues to grow as I continue to re read it over and over again. And that's why I do read it constantly. Because the more I read the Book of Mormon, the stronger my testimony becomes. And the stronger my testimony becomes, the closer I become to God. And the closer I become to God, the happier I am. I read the Book of Mormon everyday because it makes me happy. I follow the teachings taught in the Book of Mormon everyday because it makes me happy. I choose to live the doctrine taught by the Church of Jesus Christ everyday because it makes me happy. I choose to be a Mormon because it makes me HAPPY.

How I live my faith

I attend church on Sundays in a specific ward with other youth of my same age. In my ward, I serve the members as a temple coordinator. As a temple coordinator, I plan temple trips and encourage other members in our ward to attend the LDS temple. There's many powerful blessings that come from being eligible to enter the temple, and I am so grateful that it has become a part of my life. I know that by making the temple a part of my weekly routine, I have been greatly blessed. I love being able to help bring others unto the temple and see the temple bless their lives too.
