Hi I'm Blakely Gull

I did not grow up in Kenya. I did not start a school for orphans. I'm fairly certain I'm an average person. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Although I'm an aspiring writer, I dread writing when it's about myself. However, I'll give it shot. I grew up in Utah with my four siblings. For two years I learned the ways of my Polynesian ancestors while I lived on the North Shore of Hawaii. There I attended college for two years where I received my Associate's Degree. (Don't ask me why I ever left because I still don't know.) Despite my love for surf and ono food, I decided to transfer to to a school back in Utah to complete my degree in journalism. However, I'm more in love with Utah now more than ever before. Nothing is better than the mountains and family. That's a big lesson you learn when you leave home. Family is the most important. And then there's rock climbing. Rock climbing is my obsession. Trad and sport. Inside or out. Although, really anything outside makes me happy. Surfing, hiking, running, swimming, wake boarding, snowboarding. You name it. These were some of the hardest things for my to leave when I came out on my mission. And that's where I am today. Serving a mission in the California/ Oakland San Francisco Visitor's Center and speaking español. It took me a long time to decide to serve a mission but when it comes down to it my love for my Savior has brought me to this point in my life. Although I'm many things in my life. I'm first and foremost a Follower of Christ. And then comes the love of Kanye and Drake and Kendrick. But Christ is for sure my right hand. My go to.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it makes me happy. Life can be pretty hard sometimes but with the knowledge of this gospel I'm happy every day. Not all day every day. But every day. The gospel is such a joyous message. I've had a lot of trials in my life and I only wish I'd learned how much better my life would be if only I used the things I'd learned as I grew up in the gospel. When I started to REALLY pray and REALLY seek the Lord's help, that's when I started to feel Him in my life. This gospel is a learning process. Life is a learning process but I know that my life is so much better because I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Possibly one of my favorite things about being a member of this gospel is the opportunity we have to serve others. I want to spend my life serving and helping others. That's why I love being a missionary. Every day I get the opportunity to serve others and help spread the gospel. I also live my faith by trying my best to be like Christ. But in order to be like Him, I have to learn of Him. So I love reading about His life and how he's blessed others lives in the scriptures. Also, listening, reading, and watching talks from current prophets and apostles on the Earth today allow me to learn more of Christ. With those things I learn in mind I try my best to implement them in my life. It's not always easy and I make many mistakes, but I do my best and with God's help I know I can do it.
