Hi I'm Sherilyn Hopper

I am a wife, and mom to 5 amazing, funny, beautiful, crazy, challenging, loving, kids. I love the outdoors, I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, a mom to 5 kids, a Real Estate agent, and a lover of the outdoors. My favorite places to be are in the mountains or at the ocean. I find beauty in the nature all around me and enjoy photographing it as well. Doodling is what I do to relax. Having the sunshine on my face makes me happy.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a strong Latter-Day Saint family. At about the age of 16 I was really starting to wonder for myself about the church. I struggled to find my own testimony. I had always gone to church and participated in my youth group but I felt that my testimony was built on the strength of others. I decided to read the Book of Mormon. I found many passages that related to me and things I was going through. I felt peace when I read the testimony of Joseph Smith in the beginning of the book. Especially when I read about how Joseph struggled to know the truth and took it upon himself to pray to our Heavenly Father. He had such strong faith. One of my favorite parts in the Book of Mormon is in 3rd Nephi when Christ comes to visit the people living on the American Continent. I love how he calls the children to come to him, how he knelt and prayed with them and for them. It is such a loving account to show that Christ loves each one of us and is concerned about our well being. It was a comfort to me at a time in my life when I felt alone and was searching for happiness. I really felt like Jesus, my older brother, knows who I am. He loves me, worries about me, celebrates my accomplishments, hurts when I struggle, rejoices when I do right. I just felt so much peace and my heart was full. I have had many triumphs and challenges in my life but have always known that I can go to my Heavenly Father in prayer and get through anything. Through the hard times, I have grown and developed a testimony of my own. I know Heavenly Father lives, I know he sent his Son, Jesus Christ to this earth to live, love, serve, teach, suffer, sacrifice and atone for each of us. I love my Heavenly Father and my Savior. I am grateful for the promptings of the Holy Ghost and strive each day to be a better person. I want to be with my Family forever! The gospel brings peace to my soul in good days and bad.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith in all I do. I try each day to find ways to serve. Sometimes it may just be a smile to someone. And other times it is much more. I am definitely human and have many of my own struggles, but I find that when I am focusing on others, I am happier myself. Each day is a new beginning, a chance to learn and grow, I'm grateful for this.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Sherilyn Hopper
I personally have had some amazing experiences going to the temple to preform baptisms for the dead. I love how we can feel connected to our Ancestors there. I think many who have gone on before us are waiting for the day their name will be taken to the temple so they can choose to accept this blessing for themselves. I love that they have the free-agency to accept or reject this ordinance. We believe that baptism is an essential step to obtain salvation. Even Jesus Christ, who was perfect, was baptized by immersion to fulfill all righteousness. He is who I look to as an example, a friend, and one who will lead me in the way of truth.
