Hi I'm Benjamin

My name is Elder Millward and I am currently serving a full time mission in San Antonio Texas speaking Spanish!

About Me

I am currently serving a full time mission the Texas San Antonio Mission. I will be attending BYU two years from now after I return. I plan to study Neuroscience and go on to receive a Masters and possibly a PhD. I love anything that has to do with sports and outdoors. I am currently away from my family but they are one of the most important things in this world to me. When I was 14 I was diagnosed with a Desmoid Tumor, and the following year I underwent 9 months of weekly chemotherapy treatments to shrink the tumor. I learned a lot from that experience, and although it was the hardest thing I have ever done, I would not change it for anything. I have since recuperated well enough to be serving a full time mission here in San Antonio, and it is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I feel privileged to be serving the Lord here in this beautiful city.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the Church, and as such, some would say that I am a Mormon because my parents were Mormon, and they raised me to be a Mormon. However, I am now 19 and I have chosen for myself to follow the gospel. Someone once asked me why I believed in the Book of Mormon or that Joseph Smith really was the first prophet of our time and I thought about it for a minute and then I responded with the following. I know that the Book of Mormon is true, and that Joseph Smith was a prophet because I have received a personal witness of these things. I prayed to my Heavenly Father and I felt His Spirit confirm to me that what I had read and learned was true. I told them that if I had just received the witness once I may have doubts, because I tricked myself into thinking it or whatever the case may be. I told them that I had tested it again and again. I have received a personal witness of the Book of Mormon, and of the truthfulness of this gospel. I know that the teachings are true and I know that without the gospel I would not be the person I am today. The source of my happiness and my joy comes from the knowledge that I have a Savior, and that he died on the cross for me, and for you. He descended below all things to lift us up. I know He lives, and I know that He loves each of us.

How I live my faith

As a missionary, we wear a plaque that bears the name of our Savior Jesus Christ. We are representatives of him in everything that we do and say. Living my faith is what I have been called to do. Everyone recognizes the young men in white shirts and ties walking around with the little blue book in their hands. I have learned a lot about the love or Heavenly Father has for us as His children recently, and I have tried to show that love towards others as well. I know that each one of us is a precious son or daughter of our Heavenly Father, and as such we all deserve the same opportunity to know of Him and of His love. I do my best to try and show that love to everyone, and be an example to those who see me.
