Hi I'm Carlie

I'm a small town white girl trying to speak Spanish in the big city of D.C. I love Hispanic food. Soy misionera. Soy mormona.

About Me

The first thing you should know about me is that I absolutely love to stay active - both physically and spiritually. I believe it is so important to have a good balance between exercising our minds and exercising our bodies. In high school, I ran hurdles for my track team. I learned that the way to literally "get over the hurdle" and become better is by working hard and being diligent. Likewise, I know that the way to overcome any hurdle we have in this life is by coming closer to Christ through diligent study and prayer. I also extremely love music. I have been playing the piano for 14 years. I also play the organ, clarinet, and trumpet. In high school, I was in a rock band, and I played the keyboard. I also participated in several high school musicals. Also while in high school, I had the opportunity to represent my school as the Distinguished Young Woman. Through that experience, I was able to set an example for and help empower younger kids, as well as others in my community. In my spare time, I love to read motivational and inspiring books, travel, cook and try new foods, and spend time with my loved ones.

Why I am a Mormon

My favorite scripture is in Proverbs 3:5-6, and it says, "5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." As I have come to understand what it truly means to put my complete trust in the Lord, I have been able to more clearly see His will for me, and know what He would have me do. This knowledge has helped be to become more spiritually converted unto the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I cannot even describe how I felt when I received a personal witness that the Savior knows me personally, and He loves me perfectly. I have truly come to know what it feels like to have "no more disposition to do evil, but to do good continually." His atonement is very real, and it is there for me to utilize. We do not need to be perfect in order to come unto Christ, and that is what this church is all about - continuous growth and learning. I am a Mormon because I want to emulate Christ and eventually become like Him!

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a full-time missionary in the Washington D.C. North Mission, speaking Spanish. I also serve in the Washington D.C. Temple Visitors' Center. So far, it has truly been an amazing, sacred journey! There have been many hard times, but those are the times when I have really had to learn how to rely on the atonement of Jesus Christ, and those are the times when I have honestly felt the arms of Jesus Christ wrapped around me. I feel that through much study about Jesus Christ, as well as A LOT of prayer and personal revelation, I have grown closer to my Savior than I ever thought possible. It definitely takes hard work, commitment, and determination to be a faithful, worthy representative of Jesus Christ, but the blessings that come from putting my faith completely in the Lord are unending and powerful.
